I also donated blood today. I want your take on this, I see some who donate, others are told they could never donate again. I'm one of those folks who used to donate every 8 weeks prior to surgery and I've been feelin' guilty for not donating afterwards, but being that my bloodwork came back just fine, and I'm a year postop, I went ahead and did it. Felt fine afterwards, so I'm guessing I m okay.
Any thoughts on this?

Hey Doll,
I would think that as long as you are healthy all the way across the board that it would be fine to donate blood. I've never heard that you couldn't donate after surgery.
I've heard that the military won't let you join up if you have had wls. Which I totally get. But not really on the blood part.
I do know that most blood banks won't let you give if you have had any type surgery in a certain length of time, which is a great thing. But after their set length of time & if your OK with giving, do it.
Have you asked your doctor about this & if so what did he say ?
If we're not suppose to donate...Wonder how wls would effect the policy of when docs want you to donate when your going to have a surgery ?
OK...My head hurts. Too much thinking & scratching my head going on
