Anyone's surgery done at keelser?
I am contemplating having my surgery done at Keesler. I was surprised to find out they had it there. I am also surprised at the speed in which they can get you done. My mom had surgery done in November, and it took her 6 months of testing and psych evals, nutritionalists, and all... She is weary of me getting it done here, cause I could get it done in 3 weeks. What all testing do they do before hand, such as : lab, CT scans, stress tests, sleep apnea test. Do they place a filter?
I am kinda excited, but very nervous, and still a little unsure of this drastic step. I keep hoping I will be one of thoses success stories: that I will lose the 140 pounds I need to lose and keep it off all on my own... but I haven't been able to do it so far.... so when is enough, enough?
Thanks for any help.
Connie, i had my surgery at keesler on 6/7 and i couldnt be happier. Im very pleased with my dr(shut -up everybody LOL )and the care i received. Like you said it is quick and i myself didnt have to have a lot of test just, routine blood work and chest xray and ekg , im sure its differant for each patient. I didn't have a filter , but im sure if they think you need one you will get it. Good luck , and i hope to see you at the keesler support group meeting tomorrow night at 7!!! DAWN
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I agrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrree !!
If anyone knows of a cheap ( or should I say inexpensive ) car repair place, let me know. My AC went out Monday morning in the car, so I didn't think much of it when my engine light came on, figured it has to do with that. That engine light comes on intermittently and I had it checked several times, they could never find anything wrong.
SO.. I left work yesterday at 550 ( running late already trying to get home and then get to the meeting ) and lo and behold that POS wouldnt start. Of course I'm already ticked off about being late outta work AND my car not wanting to start. So I get one of my friends at work's attention but he didn't get off till 645, thus I had to wait an hour for him to try to look at what's going on.
When he finally looked at it, he took out the air filter, used a compressor he had in the car to blow it out, jiggled some wires, made sure all kinda plugs in the engine are where they're supposed to be.. he gets into my *&@#$%# car and it starts right up. First try, no hesitating. Need I say something similar had happened about 6 months ago, I had problems with it not wanting to start, took several cranks and finally would crank? Now this time it didn't even turn over for me, and he gets in, it starts, purrs like a kitten. I felt like a complete idiot. FUMING but at least glad it started up this time. When I took it in the last time, the guys at the shop in Gautier could NOT get it to hesitate, not once, while starting it. So I ended up getting just my oil changed and left it at that. I'm clueless as to what the next step is now. Talk nice to the car every time I start it? Pet it? Wax it more often to keep it happy???
Anyways. Next time, Dawn, come pick me up at my house and we'll go together, maybe I won't miss it that way. I'll call ya later today.
If you see me with my car alongside the road... swerve around me and hit the POS good.. I have insurance

Thank you So much Dawn
I would have called but at that point, I just needed to get my flippin' car running; with hubby gone, I freak out when stuff like that happens. And I had told my kids at home to be ready to go and everything. Grrr. Yeah, We're DEFINITELY going together next time. Call U later !

Connie I had my surgery done last week by DR Lo. I have researched the surgery for 2 years. I had my appt with my pcm on the 21st of June saw the surgeon on the 7th of July and my surgery was the 20th of July. I only had blood work and an ekg done. The test are determined on your health and medical problems. I cant say enough about Dr Lo and his team. Dr Behr on ward 5A and the staff. My angel on the floor was Airman Lockhart and LT Garvaire. But everyone was great!!!!! I am only a few days out but doing great up and moving. I am still on my liquid diet. In my opinion dont let anyone else make your decision to have or not to have this surgery. My family is very supportive but I was the one trapped in my HUGE body and missing out on life. This is an irreversable surgery dont make a hasty decision. Take your time make sure this is right for you. The changes you have to make are for LIFE not for just a little while. Good luck to you and welcome to the boards. Everyone here is great supportive and helpful with questions.
