Thanks for thinking of me during my surgery. Arlies I know you are so busy and overwhelmed, I'd come help if I could. I hope the rest of the move goes as well as possible. I am home now and hanging in there. I never dreamed I'd end up being open. It's been a real nightmare, with a few scary moments, but so far so good. My cousin took my kids to Tennessee with her so I will hopefully be able to recover in record time. I miss them so much, especially the baby. It was so hard not to just pick her up and hug and kiss her, and she was broken hearted when I didn't. Yesterday was so emotional for us all. I hurt myself jumping out of bed this morning when a baby was crying on TV LOL. This will be hard to get used to. I just keep telling myself that I will be able to make it up to them with my new healthier body. And of course, keeping the mantra in mind... "Tomorrow will be better" I was told six weeks of "bedrest" with no lifting. Doc said we could see how I felt after 4 weeks. Please pray. My pneumonia and flu shot are kicking in today I think. I'm really feeling run down, so I just plan on taking it very easy. Arlies - again, good luck with your move. HUGS Kimberly

Hi Kimberly, so glad to see you're back, I followed your reports since surgery and I'm happy everything's working out just fine. Hang in there, I know when you're feeling in pain and all, it's hard to imagine but every day really gets better. I promise. I did what you did when I had surgery, I sent my kids off to relatives, it was SO much easier to recover not having to worry about them. You're in my prayers and you'll be just fine. Follow them doctor's orders ~~~ ~Andie~

Hey, Kimberly. Glad you are home and recovering from surgery now. It is good that you have relatives to keep the kids so you can have some recovery time. I know it is hard especially to let the little ones go. Mine was little when I had my surgery. They don't understand why you can't lift them and such so it is better they not have to go through that. You will feel great in no time and the kids will be back and everything feeling normal again. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Good luck and remember every day really does get better. Dawn, Thanks - I've been very inspired by your good luck. So far I haven't had any major problems with anything I've tried to eat - not that it's much because I'm still on clear liquids, but keeping my fingers crossed! I was started lap and ended up being finished open and losing my spleen and gall bladder during the process. Turns out my spleen had no room and I got a bad bleed, so they opened me up to figure out what was going on. I'm SO SO SO glad it happened while on the table, and not later. Can't imagine having to be re-operated on. UGH! Then I had an ilius (sp?) and was violently ill for 2 days. OH MY GOD - I shudder just thinking about it. But everything is awake now and all the plumbing is in working order. I'm having a very hard time getting the liquids in, much less the protein. Yes - my taste buds have changed after surgery. But hopefully once I can make my shakes with milk I'll do better. I sip sip sip all day and just can't get it all in. I know this is a common problem and as long as I'm trying - that's all I can do right? You keep on doing so well!!! I'm so proud of you! HUGS Kimberly

Hi Kimberly, I just caught on the this post. I'm sorry to hear you've had such a tough time. I'm so glad you are alright. Getting in the protein in the first few weeks is hard. I struggled with the liquids too in those first few weeks. Sugar Free popscicles helped me to get in my liquids. Somehow the coldness helped the nausea and gave my lips and tongue something to work on. SF koolaide was good too, you can use the regular kind for flavor variety and sweeten it with Splenda. Keep hanging in there, it will be worth in a few months, Elesha
