There are good carbs and bad carbs. The good carbs do not affect blood sugar adversely by causing spikes and cravings. Good carbs would be your whole foods like chicken, fish, pork, beef, cheese, and your true veggies like broccoli, spinach, lettuce, tomato, asparagus, collards, turnips, cucumbers, etc. Your less sweet fruits can be eaten moderately when watching carbs. Beans such as white, kidney, and black are okay. Bad carbs would be your starchy fruits and veggies and anything that is processed or white. These would include anything with white flour, peas, lima beans, corn, potatoes, chips, pies, cookies. And even the sugar free and light foods are very high in simple or bad carbs. A diet high in processed foods and simple carbs causes fatigue, mood swings, cravings, head hunger, and just hunger period. A diet high in complex carbs keeps insulin levels constant thus controlling hunger, cravings, and helps with energy and moods. Melissa

I have been reading up girl. I want to know why we don't need that stuff. It is not enough for the doctor just to tell me to stay away from it, I got to know why. And it does make a whole lot more sense now why I was so hungry and craving stuff all the time for years. It has been interesting reading. I am on my second day of going without all the simple carbs and I could tell a big difference in my head hunger and appetite. I didn't fight for control yesterday. It was great. But you are so right about the peas. They are so good this time of year and I have had me a few I must say. I save them for my evening meal so they can't cause me to crave stuff the rest of the day. If I eat them in the evening by the time the carb addict stuff starts, it is time for bed so I am okay LOL. Melissa
