Until August 2nd this is my diet from Dr. Valencia:
( This is what I can have the first two and half weeks post surgery.)
1. You may take clear liquids as broth (beef, chicken, pork), herbal tea, pedialyte, crystal light, sugar free jello, decaffeinated coffee, natural non-citric fruit juice without sugar (pear, apple, peach, etc.)
2. You should drink 2 ounces every 10 minutes for at least 14 hours each day.
3. You are NOT allowed to take soups or solid or semisolid food (except jello) during this step.
I disolve one Prilosec OTC 20 mg. in my juice twice a day for the first three months after surgery.
I will give myself Vitanmin B Complex(Briomet) intramuscular shot once a month for the first year and once every three months from then on. I can change the shot to a daily Vitamin B sublingual tablet if I want. However, I prefer the shot because it is once a month.
After the first month, I will add chewable calcium citrate tablet (Multi-Mins) per day indefinitely. Also, one chewable tablet of Iron (Eurofer).
I have to crush and dissove in water all tablets and capsules for the first 6 months post op.
I have to walk at least 45 mintues a day everyday after the 15th day post-op.
After 20 days post-op I can practice any sport except lifting weights.

Hey Denise... Dr. Carsons gave me this in Feb as a general guideline. I think these carbs should be good carbs and not those nasty carbs... haha...
Minimum: (600-800 Calories) Protein 42G - Fat 15G - Carbs 60G
Optimal: (1200 Calories) Protein 60G - Fat 50G - Carbs 120G
Maximum: (1600 Calories) Protein 80G - Fat 65G - Carbs 200G
As long as we stay below Maximum we will lose. Maximum is for while you are maintaining. You wont gain and you wont lose. This is what he told me but you know everyone is different.
