have i streached it already?!!!!!!!
Tammy, I understand how upset you are about not having a surgery date as of yet. And I agree you have been through the mill and have been waiting alot longer than alot of us have or did.
As far as what people eats, well that's their decision. My surgeon knows what I eat. I keep a diary. And when I go to him I have to put down what kind of foods that I am eating. And I don't LIE on the sheet. I am not ashamed to tell anyone what I eat or have eaten.
Cheetos? Well yes and I love them and eat them from time to time in moderation. The nurse told me to get the baked Cheetos.
Cheesecake? Yes, It's low fat (almost no fat, low carb, sugar free) cheesecake that I eat. I am 9.5 months out and have NOT eaten any sugar unless natural sugar counts. My pouch is so senstive that I can't eat oranges or a bite of banana if it's too ripe.
Pizza? Sure I have I make low carb, low fat homemade pizza. Lots of Protein.
Icecream? Sure do, Sweet Freedom Ice Cream Bars
McDonald's Drive through? Yep, been there and done that. Love their salads.
Alcoholic Beverages? Yep, but only a few times in 9.5 months.
I fessed up, but didn't have too.
My surgeon knows all this. And doesnt have a problem with it. The only thing he has a major problem with is carbonated drinks, which I DO NOT drink!
You will see after you have surgery what all you will eat. It may not be within the first month, cause I didnt even eat meat the first 3 months. But you WILL try these foods.
Enough said from me. I think I will leave the board. There is always so much flaming and judging going on. I don't need this in my life.
Jo
Jo you are missing the point to what I'm saying & asking.
You stated "As far as what people eats, well that's their decision".
Well let me say this, it is their choice of what they put in their mouths. But if they are going to keep poking the same junk in it, why have the surgery ? That's one reason there are so many people who fail at this. And another reason as to why so many others see WLS as a "quick fix".
Now if you are so open & honest with everything you eat, why is it at the support group meetings that I've been to, when your sweet hubby mentions what all you have been eating, you turn red & hit him ??? Plus not to mention he said that when you throw up he will ask you if you want some more & you go right back to eating it again. But Hey, like you said, that's your decision & not mine. And I'm not judging you. Your doing enough of that yourself. Even if you don't realize it.
Jo I don't want you to leave the board. I did not name you in the earlier post. You ratted yourself out. Not me. I may try those foods after surgery & I may not. I'm not saying that I'm going to be perfect.
But I am saying that I am going to use my head when it comes to eating. Eating has to be looked at from a smarter point of view. We have to make better decisions about what we are eating rather than just grabbing up something to be eating. If we don't, we are going to end up right back where we started from. Then what ??? Have surgery again so it can be failed at twice ?
Like I said I do not want you to leave. I'm not flaming you & I'm sorry if the truth hurts. But isn't it better to hear these things now rather than on down the road after people have started gainning the weight back ?
Tammy
Tammy I also understand why you are upset. I am very sorry that you have been put through the wringer. I am also one that needs to confess. I am 5 months out and as far as your list
Cheeto's--- none haven't had any yet bought a bag for my sons birthday party yesterday and the bag is still not opened.
Cheesecake-- Yeah someone put a suger free recipe on here a couple months back and it was and still is delicious.
Pizza--yeah I have (I have young kids who love it) and I always take first pick and then take the smallest slice in the box.
Ice cream--- yeah (but all sugar free)
McDonalds-- yeah I have done it and my doc knows. I have cut back though. Before the surgery I ate fast food every other day or every three days. But now when I go I get a dble cheese burger plain and then I take the bread off. (wish they still sold the breadless burger)
As for Alcohol I did try it and I posted it and I have said already I will not do it again cause I had no reaction to it. So basically it was a waste of my time and carbs and cals for the day.
And like Jo said my doc knows about all of this (the alcohol is coming up this next appt though I did say something to him about trying it and he said just to take a sip or 2 because of the waste of carb and the empty cals)
So I have fessed up I hope this clears me up I am very greatful that I had my surgery and I am again sorry for what you have been put through. I hope you get a date soon.

Hey Doll, You in SC or haven't left yet ???
Honey everyones going to eat things from time to time that they shouldn't. But the point I am trying to make is.... Why so soon after surgery do people start right back in with their old ways ??? The old ways did not work to begin with, so why stick with them.
If you would have tried really hard & would have had to fight to have this surgery, would you have been so quick to try the things you have tried ?
Do you see what I'm asking ?
Again I'm only asking because I care. I want you to soar with this surgery. I don't want anyone to fail. And if my pointing out some "bad choices" helps someone, then I have done a great thing. No matter how mad they may get at me for doing it, it will still be worth it.
But really I'm saying what your doc is saying. Why bother with bad carbs, go for the good stuff. Make them count. That is why we are all in this boat to begin with. Bad Choices.
Like I told Dawn, you are still the same sweet person you were to begin with. I'm not mad at you for trying things, I just don't understand why you would do that. And like I said... I only ask because I care.
Tammy
We will be leaving for SC in the morning. We were going to leave this morning but my MIL wont be there till Tues. So we figured we will just leave tomorrow morning and get there tomorrow night.
I try new things to see what my pouch can hold and will accept. I personally do not eat like a hog like I used to. Everyone is talking about bad habits and I am the worst one. I have some very bad habits. I mean I have already said that before the surgery I would go to a fast food joint every other day or every 3 days and I would order (from McDonalds) a dbl quart pounder with cheese meal super sized and I would eat the whole burger and most of the fries and then drink alot of the soda. now I have already said I can only eat the meat out of a dble cheese burger and thats over like an hour or so I do not eat it all at one time. I have young children so they love to go to fast food places. I mean we drive by and they are like mommy can we have that for dinner and I have to say well maybe tomorrow or no we are having a special dinner tonight and then I still here about it like 30 min later.
I don't think I am doing bad with my weight loss I am 5 months out and have lost 70lbs. I personally think I am doing very good. I know I am not going to let myself fail at this. I never want to get to the size I was before.
Tammy,
In my opinion you are a true friend if you are willing
to tell us the truth and take the heat for it. I know sometimes
I need it badly. I had not been doing to good and some
stuff Christine and Melissa wrote made me think about it
and now I am getting back on track. I wasn't eating food
that I shouldn't I just wasn't eating or drinking enough.
So you are free to get me by the pants any ol time I
need it.
Becky
Thank you Doll,
If me getting my butt burned will help somebody, then so be it. I'll be more than glad to do it. I want everyone who has had this surgery to a winner. I don't want people to fail at this. We need to be a supportive group.
And if my tail needs a major chewing I want somebody to be there for me.
Tammy
Wash that paranoia down the drain. You haven't stretched your pouch out. You may have irritated it a time or two with some carbonation too soon LOL but that is a myth about carbonation stretching the pouch. Was told that by two doctors, one a bariatric surgeon and the other a nutritionist. I noticed where you say your doctor did not give you a list of what to eat at different stages after surgery. I can't believe that. Most surgeons have stages they want you to go through and stuff to stay away from until a certain amount of time out. I went away with a folder from the doctor and nutritionist. Any time you have questions I will be happy to share my info with you. I consulted my folder and they do not suggest trying the cottage cheese test any earlier than 3 months after surgery. So chunk that cottage cheese unless you are eating it for a meal girl. Don't cram cottage cheese down as fast as you can and fill that pouch like that until you are at least 3 months out.
And really one piece of pizza without the big crust at the end is not that much food. I don't think you overfilled yourself there. You are okay. It is so very hard, isn't it? I mean the surgery is on your tummy. Too bad it is not on our heads. The tummy says full our heads say we need more. Our heads say good food bad food. I am just trying to learn moderation. For the first 6 months I had a very specific diet to follow. Then I started trying different foods because the point is to try to have some normalcy. I don't eat pizza every day. But every once in a while I do eat pizza. I eat very well and very healthy most every day and plan everything in advance. But I do allow myself a hamburger, some pizza, a cheeto or two, sugar free desserts because if I don't I will head toward a binge. I don't think you can completely deprive yourself. When I do eat these higher caloric foods, I plan my day around being able to have them. I know in advance when we are going to Pizza Hut and I plan my other meals around that so that I stay within my boundaries. If you want some Pizza, a hamburger, one or two fries I say go for it, but eat very low cal healthy stuff at your other feedings. We are not perfect and we are not going to eat perfectly all the time. Not even skinny healthy people eat perfectly well balanced nutritious stuff all the time, right? You okay. I am okay. I have lost all the weight I need to and am maintaining just fine. Do not and I mean do not beat yourself up over stuff. Just realize the triggers and bad habits and control them. And allow yourself your favorite stuff from time to time. It won't hurt you as long as you plan it out.
Love ya lots, girl
Melissa
