cant sleep
Sara do you have a recliner? Most of the ladies talk about sleeping there the first few nights. I know we dont have one. I am planning just to prop myself up with pillows. Did you take some more pain meds. Remember to breathe through the pain dont hold your breath. I am up too. cant sleep. Remeber everyday will be better than the last. Pray for god to take the pain. I am praying for you hun!!!!
Sara, I did have a difficult time getting comfortable without hurting or putting pressure somewhere. Do as Amy suggested. If you have a recliner sleep there for a few nights. That is where I got my good sleep until I could get back into my bed. I missed my bed, but the recliner at least allowed me to rest. It will get better, I promise. Just hang in there sweetie. You are gonna be fine in just a few more days.
Lots of Hugs,
Melissa
Dear Sara
I'm sorry to hear that you're not feeling well. Definitely take the painmeds that the doc let you have. I had been sent home with a liquid lortab prescription, and I sure took it for a few days till the pain subsided. Those first few weeks of pain are only dim in my mind now, but I remember them , kind of like childbirth. Once it's gone, you tend to forget it.
I could not sleep.. I couldn't lay down, I slept pretty much sitting up in a recliner the first few weeks till my muscles were not as ticked off at me any more . If you don't have a recliner, RENT ONE!! Aarons, Rent a center, any of them rent recliners, you still wont be completely comfortable BUT it will help a lot. I had open surgery, it took me three weeks before I was able to sleep laying down in my bed again, I know you're miserable, just hang in there girl. If you didnt get any good medicine, do NOT hesitate to call your surgeon's office and raise cane!! There is no reason to be in terrible pain and they are required to make you comfortable. I know right now it means nothing when I say this, but you'll feel a lot better in a few days and in a few weeks, you'll forget about this and be so glad you did what you did !!!!! Every day gets a little better.
Hope you feel better soon!!!

I sucked at sleeping at night. I was always a belly sleeper and it was miserable to sleep on my back. My recliner was not comfortable at all and I had to just grin and bear it.
Sometimes I would lay on my side with a pillow underneath my stomach where I could kinda almost be on my stomach without being on my stomach. I know ---you would just have to be there...
After my 10 days and my staples were removed I was back on my stomach.
Hang in there... Its only going to get better. Its always darkest before dawn.
I'm so sorry your in pain. I totally agree with Andie if your pain meds aren't cutting it call your doc and complain and get something that will. We all have varying tolerances for pain...some aren't that bothered by it others *like me* don't do pain well. Although I've not had WLS surgery yet I did have an abdomnal hysto. a few years back and lortab was my best friend. The pillow idea Christine said is what I used back then too...mine was two body pillows that I sandwiched myself into. It really helped. Anyways hope you get to feeling better soon. Don't try to be wonder woman if you hurt take some meds.
Huggles and love,
Keli
Yep for a while everything hurts....I am so sorry....
Here is you a funny.....
The 2nd day I was home, I decided that if I could lay on my left side, it would feel so much better....well, I got on my left side and then I was STUCK!!!! Jim had to come in and use the bottom sheet on the bed like a roll sheet to get me turned over......He thought it was a hoot but told me never to do that again!
