I am two weeks post-op and am having trouble getting all the protein that I need. I have tried some of the powder protein drinks (choclate) and they are far to sweet. It is making me sick to try to drink it. I have also tried the Atkins Advantage protein shake and I really don't like them. I get about half of the protein I need a day. I see that Unjury has a unflavored protein mix, has anyone tried this? Can it be mixed with Crystal Lite? All suggestions welcome

Hi Cindy. I'm about 3.5 weeks postop. I, too, had trouble with the protein shakes. I'm drinking about 10 oz of Isopure (which is like a watered down crystal lite) a day which adds up to 20 gm protein. I also use the SF Carnation Instant breakfast for morning, but I make it with Carb Countdown milk which has 12 gms of protein for 8 oz and also add 1/3 cup powdered milk which adds 8 gms of protein, for a total of 24! These two things have helped me a lot. Now that I'm on pureeds, I've found that steamed shrimp from Walmart and grilled salmon are loaded with protein - shrimp 1 oz = 6 gms, salmon 1 oz = 7 gms. Hope this helps! Rebecca

Well, at two weeks post-op, you aren't gonna be able to get all that protein in! Just get as much as you can and as time goes by, you'll get to the goal set for protein by your doc. I don't do well with the protein drinks either, but I do eat tons of cheese!! Smoochies Arlies
