Question for Becky L
Ain't you just too cute. No really I got a good laugh and
needed it. We traded our Armada yesterday for an Altima.
The gas was killing us. I am going back to school this fall
and will be doing alot more traveling and have to pay babysitter
so I knew we best be doing something. Anyway it was an all
day affair to say the least. I did get some good food though.
Ha Ha. We ate at Logan's steakhouse and I got a cup of their
potatoe soup and grilled shrimp it was good, spicy but good.
Becky :angle:
Well it's Friday so I guess I can respond now. Ha ha
No really sorry I was gone all day long yesterday.
Car shopping.
Anyway when you say soft foods are you talking about the eggs, cheese
and stuff? If so after that the best I can remember he adds, bread (not toasted), some fruit and cooked well veggies like broccolli at 4 months. Then at 5 months he adds the rest of the fruit, then at 6 months he adds
raw veggies like lettuce, cauliflower, etc. No new meat until 9 months (boohoo). He is really alot stricker than other dr's.I hope this helps and is what you wanted if not let me know and I'll try again.
Becky
Thanks, that's what I needed to know. He is very conservative on introducing you back to regular foods, but I think that is the best way. I just can't see how some doctors can let you try regular foods right away. It's no wonder some people are not able to keep their food down. Knock on wood, I haven't thrown anything up yet. He told me his policy was zero tolerance on throwing up. It was bad, bad, bad. I had my first blood test done today and am going now to pick up the results. I'll repost in a little while with the results. Thank again, you all are the best.
hey Pj, did your dr give you a reason why the throwing up is so bad( besides the obvious) .My Dr are not conserative, but they are regular surgeons and they dont specailze in WLS. Granted I've been bad on my on and i did drink a few diet cokes, which i knew was a nono, i am addict and havein a hard time givin it up!( i havent had one in almost aweek though)!Im haveing a hard time eattin regular foods, most make me sick, so i've got to where i dont even try to eat at all. I would love to know what your dr had you on at 3-4 weeks. I know i should follow my drs advice, but they are so vague its hard to know what is good and bad for me. Any advice from you or anyone else whose dr was conservative would be great! I think i need to back track and try and heal my pouch, i have been throwing up alot what damage is this doing to me? DAWN
I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks, full liquids for 4 weeks and have been on soft foods for 6 weeks. Now my doctor gave me a list of specific things I could eat (or drink) at each stage. I can't tell you exactly what it does to your pouch when you hurl, I just know my doc said it was very bad. If your insurance covers it, you might want to think about switching to a surgeon who is well versed in WLS. And remember, whatever you eat, chew it into a watery mess. Everything that hits my pouch is the consistency of soup by the time I get thru chewing. I even chew my yogurt. lol
Pj,
Did you get that Xerox sheet
Telling you what you should add at each week?
Each time that is one of the check up weeks where
You're supposed to advance your diet
They give you a new hand-out.
I can't find mine any more but I used to keep
Them in the cabinet with my vitamins.
A lot of folks would like that info.
I think I'm gonna ask for a copy of the whole thing,
Weeks one through 18 and scan it in
So I can drop it out here on the site for folks who are having
Troubles, so they can compare it to what they are doing.
King, and his protégé Byars, have an excellent track record
For success and I think a lot of it is because their Post-Op
Care is so good.
Hope all is going well for you.
Have a great July 4th weekend!
Best Wishes-
