I like knowing where I stand on my calories. I would like to stay at 1000 or less but I am finding that very difficult some days.
Ive been writing in my journal again. This is the journal my mother gave to me right after surgery...Last entry was 1/7/05 until now:
Here is a few things I wrote:
10/13 (6 days post op): I am not hungry at all but I want to taste the food. I have been back and forth to the refridgerator 1000 times. Momma is coming to get me tomorrow. I have to get out of the house. DAMN THIS OBSESSION WITH FOOD
10/14 (7 days post op): Something is wrong with me. I m 7 days post op and am still supposed to be on liquids. Today I ate a peice of sausage and did not dump or feel bad at all. What the hell is wrong? Maybe this surgery was not right for me....Why can I eat? Why is this such an obsession?
10/14 (later): Just talked to Arlies-she gave me some ideas of what to do when I want to eat. Its my choice what I put in my mouth and I will let my brain tell me and not my taste buds.
10/19 (12 days post op): Head hunger is starting to go away. Propel water and SF popsicles have been a lifesaver. Getting out of the house is good. House never gets cleaned though. My insicion is ugly and it itches. I am ready to heal.
10/21 (14 days post op): I can never seem to have a bowel movement. This is getting crazy. I had cheesy mac for dinner. Just a little but I am very sick. Tomorrow I am back on soups. It wont kill me.
10/23 (16 days post op): Had head hunger today. I chewed up and spit out a hamburger from sonic. All will be fine when I go back to work on Monday. I do not think I will make it to goal if I do not get out of the house.
10/26 (19 days post op): Everytime I eat I feel miserably full, tired, and feel like a hog. Im feeling sorry for myself right now. My incision hurts and nobody cares. I am going to bed..Just finished cleaning house.
11/9 (1 month 2 days post op): I have lost 33 pounds. Drum Roll please. I still chew food up and spit it out. I am becoming obsessed with doing that. I am afraid to swallow the food. Rode 8.5 miles on Longleaf today.
11/23 (I dont know): Thanksgiving is going to suck.
11/28 --Finally hit the 40 pound mark. Survived Thanksgiving. People still look at my plate and say I am eating too much. My problem is that I put too much on my plate--I dont eat it all. I am wasting alot of food.
12/11 - I am getting bad about not writing in my journal.I am down 48 pounds. I am still not having bowel movements like I would like. Its getting close to my period again. I am eating alot lately. I havent lost any weight in a few days.
12/14 - Started my period early. I want to be at goal when we go on Vacation in March to West Virginia. Ive only lost 10 pounds in the past 3 weeks. Ugh, that makes me sad.
12/17 - I am still on my period. Havent lost any weight. That blows.
1/7 - 3 MOS --- Happy New Year. 2005 is going to be a wonderful year for me. I have lost 61 pounds since surgery and 70 from my highest. Had doctors appt--all blood work was good. Bethany turned in her paperwork. I am so excited for her. I have been sluggish past week or so but I think my energy level is picking back up.
Boring.. huh... Haha..
7-8:00 too much coffee/half of protein bar
9:30 last half of protein bar
2:30 stir fry, used up the rest of the ingredients from yesterday
7:30 36 oz diet splash juice (that workout really made me thirsty)
8:00 boneless pork ribs/fresh turnip greens
8:30 piece of SF chocolate pie
3:00 piece of SF chocolate pie
Better in the fluid department, I cut out my afternoon coffee and got in more real water and lots of Diet Splash. I definately did better in the exercise department. Christine and I got orientated at the YMCA. The pool was closed for cleaning so no water aerobics but we did lots of cardio (treadmill=1.10 miles & elliptical =4ish minutes for me), weight training on the machines and an extensive upper respiratory workout (AKA giggling at ourselves). We plan to get our body assessment next week. Depending on how mortifying it is, I may post the data.
My kids liked the childcare once they met Emily and they went to the basketball court and Ethan LOVED the racquetball. It was obvious that he got a good workout. He could lose a couple of pounds too, since he stopped taking karate last year he has gotten soft 'round the middle too.
I have plans for Tuesday am and a dentist appt for the pm so I may not make at for Wednesday. Christine, I will meet you in the kickboxing class on Thursday 4:30!
Take care everyone,
Elesha, the soon-to-be buff
