Not Sleeping

I am 8 weeks out and have been on Lexapro for 20 days and have not been able to sleep at night more than 4 hours. I take the Lexapro in the am. I understand one of the side affects is innsomia. I tried taking a resteriol to sleep last night, but it did not help. About 1 1/2 weeks ago I had terrible panic attacks and was put on Zanax and now they have gone away and I have been taken off of the Zanax. I was wondering if any of you have sufferred from the same issues using Lexapro with sleeping issues. I start a new job on Monday and really want to be rested for it. Any suggestions or comments please.

Hi Sharron... I take Lexapro and did not have any problems with sleeping. Could the insomnia be related to the stress of starting a new job? Sometimes when I am stressed or nervous I cant sleep. I hope you can get some ZZZZs soon so you can be refreshed for your new job. Wish I could be more helpful.

Do you take yours in the morning or at night?

In the morning... when do u take yours? Do u take a B12 sublingual? If yes, when do you take it.. if its at night - theres the problem.

I take mine in the morning and it make me sleepy. I do take the b-12 in the nose and I take it in the morning once a week on Saturdays I am wondering if I should switch the lexapro to night?

I actually only took the Lexapro for a month. I was having a really bad month and would cry at the drop of a hat and get irritated very badly at every little thing. I took it for a month. Have been off for about a week. Trying to see if its gone or if I need my refill. I dont like to be on pills of any kind because I have an addictive personality. Alcoholism runs on my dads side... Every one of his brothers and his mother and dad were alcholics. My brother had a bad problem with Crystal meth and was in rehab twice, My sister and I are addicted to food, I am a smoker and a gambling addict when put in that situation... so, see I have to stop myself before things become and addiction. When I am on the coast, I take 100 dollars or so and by the nights end I have hit the ATM several times... I cant stop once I start..

I don't know about sleep medicine since I haven't taken any ever....but benadryl makes me sleepy..... Smoochies Arlies
