Hi all! I'm still hanging in here. One week ago today I was in surgery - so glad it's behind me and I've joined the losing side (yes - the scales started moving today!). Got a question. I was told to get in 2 oz of liquid every 30 minutes. Is this what ya'll were told? If that's the case, how in the world will I get in 64 oz a day? I don't get up at the crack of dawn and I don't like drinking late at night. Will I eventually be able to get in more than 2 oz in 30 minutes? I got to start back on my protein shakes this morning. Can't wait for some real food! Thanks! Rebecca

I measured everything in the beginning so I could keep up with it. And looking back in my journals the most I got in was around 32 to 36 oz. I have notes in my journal that that was okay by my doctor as long as I was going to the bathroom 3 to 4 times daily and my urine did not have a strong odor. The farther out I got the easier it was to get more liquids in. Now I do still have a hard time getting as much in as I need to because I am never thirsty and drinking too much makes my tummy hurt. So I struggle still and do not get the 64 oz in every day but I do the most I can and am not dehydrated. So just do the best you can and you will be fine. Hang in there. Sounds like you are recovering well. THings get much easier the farther out you get. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. Hugs, Melissa Taylor Lap Rny 1/15/04 277/136 -141 pounds

Hey Rebecca, I was told the 2oz every 30 minutes and then water as you could take it. I never got 64oz I done good to get 30oz and I didn't have any problems. It will be awhile before you get 64oz. Don't fret it. Just drink as you can. Becky

It takes a while to make it to the 64 ounces, but bear in mind your shakes count too....Just take it easy and as long as you are tinkling often and aren't constipated you are okay! Smoochies Arlies

Rebecca, Yes, you WILL be able to get the fluids in, just be patient. No one expects you to get it done in the first weeks. I am a year out and I can drink a 20 ounce water in 30 minutes ( used to do it on the way to work and on the way back, that's half of my day's water already ) I would just sip sip sip all day long and eventually I got to where I am. Its no issue for me to drink the 64 oz, I actually get around 100 a day, five 20oz waterbottles worth, without problems. So trust me and just hang in there. You'll be fine. ~Andie~

Way to go! I guess that I am going to have to buy a good pair of scales when I go home, cause I really want to see them move!!! I am trying to do the liquid thing now, doing pretty good, best thing is now not craving sugar. Do you like the shakes? I find that they are not too bad, and they do make me feel really full...... Looking forward to getting togather and will post on the board when we get a good place to meet, do you have any suggestions???? Smiles, Cheryl

Thanks, everybody!! Cheryl - I really liked the shakes I was getting here BEFORE surgery, but after starting back on them yesterday, I noticed the taste is not as good. I've ordered some vanilla very berry from bariatriceating.com because I noticed it's really raved about on the main board. I thought you didn't have to do a liquid diet??? Rebecca

Well I thought I had slipped by the liquid diet but they (DeAnna?) nailed me!!! Melissa is on vacation til the end of the month. LOL but she did relent a bit and told me that I could have a chicken breast no skin and salad for Dinner..... The shakes really fill me up and I have tried to follow it as much as possible, am off of sugar for good, didnt even get a "last meal" Just found the message at 6am and then started. I am going to the end of the year dinner though and I will eat something there on Thursday although I will steer clear of fatty and sugar things. I got the Isopure no carb here at a body builders shop. It does taste pretty good I think because it is not very strong. Some that they described sounded pretty awful!!! I ordered the Unjury way back but now am worried cause Dawn said that it is awful!!!! I bought Vanilla, Chocolate and unflavored as well as some seperate packets. I also ordered the seperate packets from Bariatriceating too. Thought I could try those and see if they work for me. They just got individual soups at the grocery store that are a puree, and you add ho****er, instead of the cup of soup stuff, which I got sick on once and cannot eat!!!!! Food does taste weird when you come out of surgery, at least that has been my experience before. Jello is really vile after surgery to me, but SF popcicles may be ok....... I am going to bring Chinese tea with me, it is good when you have a tummy ache or just ho****er, which I learned while living here in China. Chinese drink ho****er a lot and it does help! Email me and let me know what you thought of Oschners and the care. Is there anything that I should know???? Cheryl

Rebecca, let me know how that vanilla very berry turns out for you. I'm thinkin about orderin it too. I got a smaple of Matrix vanilla and it wasn't bad at all but its so expensive. I got unjury choco and don't care for it. I also got unjury unflavored and its ok in somethings and not in others!LOL I mix it with vanilla carnation Ins.breakfast and ice cubes and blend and its ok then! DAWN
