Made it back.....Question for Postops
Hey Ya'll:
I got home around 6:30 last night. I'll update my profile sometime today and tell all about my hospital experience, for those with inquiring minds.
How long is this extra weight gonna be here?!?!
From 7 a.m. Monday morning before my surgery weight until Tuesday around 4 a.m. I had gained 17 lbs.
I'm still up around 4-5 lbs. this morning.
I haven't been able to get in all my fluids yet. I'm on a lot of meds and they're keeping me sick.
Also - was anyone allowed to drink pure orange juice - no sugar or anything added - right after surgery? They gave it to me in the hospital even though it's not on my food list for this week.
Gotta go get started on my meds. I'll be on here off and on today. So glad to be home!!!!!!!!
Rebecca

I know what you mean about the weight gain in the hospital. They told me it's from all the fluids. My starting weight per my dr was like 327, and when I left the hospital, I weighed like 340. When I went for my first post op visit, I weighed 305, and the dr told me I was down 22 lbs. I always just go by what the dr scales say. Less confusion that way!! But, as for the fluid gain in the hospital, I've heard it's normal. Just from all the fluids they give you to keep you hydrated. Isn't it great to be on the Losing side?? Congratulations on your WLS!!!
I'm sure that it will!! I tell you, I was so out of sorts after my surgery. Just from the DRASTIC change in everything, I wondered if I'd done the right thing. But, it gets better. I'm down about 65 lbs now, and feeling so much better, I can't even imagine feeling as bad as I know I did before my surgery. Every day it gets better!! I promise.
Hiya Rebecca,
I am glad that you are home safely and doing well.
As far as the orange juice! OH MY, I couldn't have any type no sugar added juice until my 2nd week. However, I still can't drink orange juice nor eat oranges. I dump big time on them.
Best thing to do is go by the guideline that your surgeon gave you. If you don't have a guideline. Then you need to call the dietcian.
Good Luck,
Jo
Glad you are home! I am so sorry that you aren't feeling very good. Meds bothered me alot to begin with too, but it does get better.
I would NOT have drank the OJ because of the acidity and your poor raw tummy.....Other than that it probably wouldn't hurt.....I only got broth, koolaid and jello in the hospital....I'd hold off on the oj for a while. A lot of times, the kitchen at the hospitals are NOT on board with the WLS diet....
