i quit smoking today
DID ANY ONE SMOKE BEFORE WLS OR HAS JUST STOPED . MY DR NEVER TOLD ME I HAD TO STOP I KNOW THAT SOUNDS NUTS ,I SHOULD HAVE GUESSED BUT I DIDNT . I WAS READING UP ON WLS LASTNIGHT AND SAW THAT YOU CANT HAVE WLS IF YOU SMOKE . I WILL NOT LET A CIG KEEP ME FROM WLS . SORRY ALL I JUST NEEDED TO GET IT OUT ITS SOOOOOOOOOOO HARD
I had to quit also....as of May 27, 2005 I had been officially quit for 1 year!!!! It is VERY hard, but I can be done! I still can see someone smoking while driving down the road or in town somewhere and want one really really bad...but my worst fear was waking up after surgery with that breathing tube down my throat and they said that if I didnt quit that is exactly what could happen...I threw them in the garbage can that day in the Doctors office and havent touched another one since.

Dear Sara,
smoking is ONE hard habit to break, and every single person who's ever smoked will agree with you, it's hard as heck but it can be done. Once you beat that monkey off your back, you will feel 100% better. Between surgery and losing weight and giving up smoking, breathing easier, you'll find it rewarding, but you have to give it up nonetheless for your health, before surgery.
I quit cold turkey 6½ yrs ago and I still sometimes want a cigarette, although I can't stand being in a smokey room any more and it makes me sick now, the craving never ends, it's all about willpower. I mean, even dieting was easier than giving up smoking.
So hang in there, girl, you can do it. We're here for ya!
