New Developments and flat tires!!!!!
Well as usual things are always changing!!! Remember when I asked about costs? I could never come to an agreement with the hospital in Ocean Springs they wanted sooo much money over and above the surgeons fees and other stuff, and my husband felt a bit nervous with a small hospital so he wanted me to call Oschner's in New Orleans! They were soooo helpful and it was totally easy to work with them. I will be having my surgery there. Dr. Richardson has agreed to take my case. They do have a package price for self-pay people, or folks that have to be reimbursed like me. And, the hospital is just down the street from where my daughter lives, so all in all it looks great. I will go on Monday the 27th of June for an appointment and probably surgery very soon thereafter. They are concerned because the first three months are the most critical for problems. I am getting excited and now cannot sleep cause my mind is whirling around so much. My unjury arrived, bought a smoothie maker for HK and a food processor, got to get one for the house in US, have a couple of cute gowns and some loose pjs to go home in so I am set!!!!!! Does everyone feel this wild when things come togather????? Oh and my primary care doctor called me today, she is waiting for the test list so that she can order all the pre-surgery tests. She is great, what a nice doctor to call like that!!!!!!
I was monitoring two exams today (Chinese test and Math exam) and all I could think about was the fact that I will look so different than I do now, and I will be able to climb stairs several times a day rather than once or twice like now. I am off of celebrex, and my knees are sooo sore and achy! Feet too! Anyway, I am just totally tickled and glad that I changed over to Oschners........dance:
Thanks for listening!

Cheryl, I am so glad things have worked out for your surgery in N.O. I am really looking forward to meeting you. Do you know any of the teachers in the Brookhaven School District? I taught at Martin, B'have Elem, and Mullens. I also had 3 daughters to graduate from BHS. I just feel like we know some of the same people. I also have been a member of First Batist Church for over 20 years. As you can see, I love to talk. Smiles, Jan
Hey Jan, I dont know any of the teachers in Brookhaven District, I worked in McComb when I was living there, I live in the West Lincoln School District. But like all small towns, most people are related to each other, so we probably do know a lot of the same people! Except that those people do not know that I am having this surgery! Shhhhh.....
LOL! We can all get togather when I come home, I will volunteer my house, dont have much furniture but have a big table and chairs and rockers for the porch!
Cheers!

Cheryl,
I know it has been very consuming for me. It's all I can think about. I can't wait until next summer when I can shop for regular clothes, wear a bathingsuit comfortably, etc etc etc... This surgery is all I can think about! I just want to be healthy, and I want to have energy! Hopefully this c-pap thing will give me some of my energy back! My husband bought me one of those kitchen aid hand held mixers. I've heard the handhelds are perfect, and much easier to clean. When I was looking at the food processors, I realized that I will only be eating tablespoons of food at a time, and it seemed like a lot of clean up work. --Just giving you another option! More to think about! LOL You're welcome!
I'm so glad it's coming together for you! Best of luck!

I have heard good things about Oschners and Dr. Richardson! I am so glad that things are humming along well!
Yes, everybody is about spastic prior to their surgery!!! I KNOW I was!!! Can't wait for you to be home.....When will you have to return to HK? Do you think it will be possible for you to come to some type get-together before you head back???? Should we all converge on Brookhaven??? I volunteer Jan's House!!!!!! go me!!!

Thanks for the vote on Dr. Richardson!!! I looked him up on the Louisiana board but he wasn't registered! Maybe they dont read the boards there? I dont have to be back in Hong Kong until Sept th, will probably fly out of NO on the 2nd or 3rd so I have a bit of time to sleep before I go to work. It takes about 2 weeks or so to get the days and nights straightened out when you fly over so many time zones!
We most certainly can have a meeting in Brookhaven. I can volunteer my house or we can meet at a place where we can all have lunch. I would love to meet all of you!
Love ya!
