weight loss standstill
Hi Janice, It was so good to meet you in H'Burg Monday night. You know I am pre-op but you are not a failure. Now, what I understand , just go back to liquids for a few days, then add back slowly. Now, that is what I think, but those who have been there will answer with the real problem solvers. Smiles, Jan
You are normal. At around 2 to 3 months out, your body realizes you are taking in a dramatically reduced amount of food. It kicks into starvation mode of holding onto everything you put in. Just keep following the plan and do what you are supposed to do and it will level itself out and kick back into losing mode. Sometimes actually uping your calories a little will jump start it. YOu are not failing, you are right on schedule with what happens at this point in the journey. Keep your attitude positive and hold your head up and congratulate yourself, you are doing great. YOu should be proud.
Anytime you feel down or have any questions, don't hesitate to call me. My number is on our support group call list. I call Christine and Robin and Denise quite regularly for encouragement and just to talk through feelings I know they understand. We are here to help each other. So call me anytime.
Good Luck,
Melissa Taylor
My scale does the same thing, and then one day I step on them and I have lost 5 pounds. It is wierd, I can way every other day or so for a week and sometimes two and not lose an ounce and then way the very next day and have lost 5 pounds. But I will take it any way I can get it. Thanks Missy for explaining why it does that, I was wondering myself. It makes sense that your body is in the "starvation mode".
Best of luck, and Janice you will do great, don't worry, you can't fail if you just follow the guidelines..
Rhonda
THANKS FOR THE WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT. I KNOW THAT SOME DAYS I DON'T GET ALL OF MY PROTEIN AND WATER, BUT I REALLY AM TRYING. I HAVE BEEN EXERCISING 3 TIMES A WEEK SINCE I WENT BACK TO THE GYM, BUT BEFORE THAT I WAS WALKING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD EVERY DAY, SO MAYBE THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE. I AM BASICALLY ON SOFT FOODS STILL. I HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN PERMISSION TO EAT MEATS, EXCEPT FOR THIN SLICED LUNCH MEAT. ALSO, DOES EVERYONE WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING THAT YOU EAT OR DRINK TO KEEP TRACK OF YOUR PROTEIN AND WATER. I STARTED OUT DOING THIS BUT HAVEN'T DONE THIS IN ABOUT A WEEK. MAYBE THAT IS THE SECRET. WHAT DO YOU THINK? WELL, WITH SOME BRAINSTORMING, MAYBE I HAVE ANSWERED SOME OF MY OWN QUESTIONS. THANKS, JANICE
I have kept a food journal since day one. I have filled up 3 or 4 of them. I am 1 year and 4 months out and I still keep a food journal every day. I have lost all the weight I need to and am in maintainance but the food journal is still very useful even now. It helps me stay focused and on track.
Good luck
Melissa
Hey guys try www.fitday.com
It is a website to keep great records of your food. It has all types of foods in all types of increments listed. If it doesn't you can create your own custom foods.
I have used it for years, it is a fabulous site. If anyone needs help lemme know.

You are so normal and right on track! I remember stalling at 3 weeks then again at 3 mos and now all the time.. haha.. I just got off a month long plateau. It sucks but you are not failing at all! Youa re doing great.
Drink lots of water, get your protein in.. stay away from the carbs.
I could see a huge difference in you on Monday. You look great!
I would tell you to throw out the scales but that would be wrong since I weigh daily too. Cant help it.
Everytime I plateau I think I am done losing and get depressed until the scale moves again. You've got many months ahead of you for lots of losing... you doing fine!
