I just feel Like I will Fail at this and I want lose the weight.
I'll stay fat forever and will not lose this weight.
I'm afraid if I get to eat i will not stop, Dr. Byars gives all patients
lexapro, taking it and I still feel like a failure. Like I will Screw

Lisa, honey stop and take a deep breath....lol I know what your going thru! The other day i pulled everything out of my cabinet because I thought I was gonna starve to death...but I stoped and gathered my thoughts and realized it was just my head being hungry and not my tummy.....I decided on some soupy mashed potatoes and some puree'ed green beans. Just dont sike yourself out hun, your doing great and everything is gonna be just fine, and when you go to your next dr. apt. you are gonna be suprised at how much you have lost. I take zoloft everyday. and hun you cant screw it up just follow your dr.'s orders and you will be just fine. Keep your chin up and just remember to breath.
Love ya hun!
God Bless,

EVERYBODY FEELS LIKE THIS!!! I am still a little bit terrified of eating new things and worry that I am eating too much! My pouch (and yours will too) helps me out with that tho! One bite too much and up it comes. YEP, I GO INTO THE KITCHEN SWEARING TO EAT EVERYTHING IN THERE!!!! But I take a bite of something and lose interest. It's sorta magical, BUT I do try to eat 3 meals (abet tiny ones!) a day and if I am hungry between, I drink water, sugar-free kool-aid, etc and I get full of that and go on to doing something and not being hungry. Before the surgery, when a feeding frenzy struck, it was like I couldn't get enough in fast enough, but now, sometimes, when I am starving to death (yeah, right!) I get frustrated because two or three bites and I am full or don't want it anymore, or it didn't taste as good as I wanted and the feeding frenzy is over......You will struggle some, but it seems like it is much easier to overcome the struggle and they don't last as long.
Just relax. You will be okay, I promise. Fears are natural and that is what keeps me from trying sugary stuff!!!! And it is PAINFUL to overeat, so that helps too.
Relax, don't worry, be happy!!! Holler often and don't be afraid of coming to all of us with your worries. I doubt you will have one worry that someone here hasn't already had and dealt with!

Lisa, that was the first question I asked Byars on my first visit. I was so terrified I would be the first and only one to fail. I am a VERY slow loser and I was sure I would not lose the weight. It's just your head playing games with you.
Good luck going to see Dr. Byars! I love him so much. You can tell him I said so. I don't mind! LOL

Lisa,
I'm still pre-op, but I can try to imagine how you feel. I know I feel these things already before I even have surgery. I think that we go through so much to get to the surgery, that we can easily phsych ourselves into thinking we are going to fail. I'm already threatening myself.."why do you think this would work, nothing else has!?" I can really be mean to myself. Just know that it is rather hard NOT to succeed with this surgery. You just have to try to be more positive to yourself. Remember, the goal is a healthier weight. Not everyone will end up a size 8 - just keep your eye on the prize.
I also know that depression is quite common after a major surgery. Perhaps trying a different anti-depressant may solve some of this. I know I had to try several before I found one that was good for me. Hang in there hon and lean on this board. They've "been there done that". You WILL succeed - I know it!

Lisa,
as a still-fresh postie, you are going to feel this way till you see the consistent pattern your body is establishing right now for your loss. Some people lose rather quickly and are at goal within 6-9 months, others lose slower and it may take 18 months to get to goal. I am probably one of them. I lose slower, but my philosophy is, as long as I am LOSING and not gaining, I am NOT a failure. I do the things I am told. I eat smart, protein first, I do LOTS of walking and swimming, I am very active. Albeit, I've always been pretty active when I was big and was never able to lose weight that way. I stayed at one weight even being on my feet 8 hrs a day. We are all SOOOOO individually different, you just have to give yourself time to find out how your body adjusts. Try not to weigh all the time, weigh once every two weeks maybe, and don't freak if you lose 5 and gain 2 back. Us girls have funny bodies, they tend to retain water at the strangest times and you will fluctuate, if you like it or not.
I've said it here so many times and I'll say it again. I may lose 12 lbs one month, gain 3 back, lose 4 lb, gain one pound back, lose 7 pounds, and so on. Just don't get frustrated. In the long run, you're almost guaranteed that you can not fail, as long as you are NOT falling back into the carb and sugar trap. Veggies, complex carbs, meats, those are the things you can have without guilt.
WE ALL felt like you do at one point, and I can promise you, if you give it about 6 months, you will see that you're doing just fine. Those first weeks and months are tough but we're here for ya !!
Have a wonderful week and try not to be so hard on yourself !

Hi Lisa!
I just was going to make a suggestion about your medicine the doctor gave you. I'm not a doctor, so I can't tell you what to take or anything, but I will tell you what my PCP told me and my psychiatrist told me about Lexapro. I was on that as well, and I gained almost 40 pounds! My psych and the doc told me that Lexapro can make you GAIN weight, because it beefs up your appetite. Immediately I was switched to Wellbutrin, mainly because of my depression, and I must take 450mg a day, but you will probably not require that much, anyway, another reason I was put on that is that it is an APPPETITE SUPPRESSANT, and it gives you tons of energy! Taking that and combining it with my Weigh****chers (insurance requirement) I have lost almost 30 pounds in 2 months, and I havent even had surgery! It would probably melt off of you since you've had surgery. I would just mention it to him, he knows you better than me, so its just a suggestion.

Lisa,
That was and still is a big fear of mine. But reality is chances of that
happening is like 0%. If you do what the dr tells you you will
loose weight. I have often thought what if I don't loose the weight
and I went through all this. I still think it sometimes that maybe I've
lost all I'm gonna loose. But I know it just isn't true. If you follow
dr's orders you have no choice but to loose the weight. You will.
Don't worry just enjoy getting skinny.
