Hair Loss
Ok guys, I think my worse fear is hair loss. I have very thin hair as it is and not very much of it.
When I was on Atkins last year and lost 85 lbs in 10 months, I was almost bald on top. Now it may be sexy for a guy, but NOT A GIRL haha
Do you know anything I can do to help prevent that? I have already started taking these Mega B Vitamins with Biotin in them for hair loss and have been taking them for about 4 months now and it seems alot better. But I know as fast as you lose weight with WLS that the hair loss will be horrible.
Sue
Hey Sue,
I have heard that taking the biotin and taking Omega will help.
I don't know for sure I haven't tried it. I started loosing my hair
about the 4th month and now it comes out by the handfuls. I try not
to wash no more than I have to because more tends to come out
then. Lucky for me I had a headful so maybe it will get better before
I get bald. But I guess its a small price to pay for the end results.

Sue,
I never lost A Hair!
I credit it to keeping my Protein Level
Really High, 95 gms minimum.
That's hard to do,
Unless-
You use the clear Isopure Liquid Protein Drinks.
40 gms in each 12oz bottle.
It can substitute or mix in with your water intake.
It tastes a little "metallic-y" but if you cut in half and half with
Crystal-Lite, you don't notice it.
That way you keep getting little doses of Protein
With every little sip.
Some out here have also had good luck with Nioxin Shampoos
And Conditioners.
They tingle and make your scalp feel great, but I don't
Know if they really do anything.
I've also seen people swear by Garnier Fructis (sp) Hair strengthener.
It supposedly prevents breaks, and that is in fact where the "hair loss"
Happens for the most part-
Breaks in the weakened hairs just as they come through the scalp.
I don't know about all of the Product stuff,
I just have seen/heard a lot of people claiming they help.
For me-
I say the Protein!
That's my Story, and I'm sticking with it!
Best Wishes-
Dx
Hi Sue
unfortunately there is no magic cure or formula. You either lose none, a little or a lot, you can either lose right away ( like I did, by the handful as well ) or three months out, six months out. It's totally individual and the only tip I can give, push protein protein protein and take your vitamins. My kids said for a month or so I looked like a chemo patient, but after three months of losing my MOP, I started regrowing it and now I have a full head again. came back darker and wavy, almost curly, but hey, straightners do the job for me
Good Luck, and SO glad you got your approval. It's all downhill from here !! Yeayy!!!!

hey sue, me again i do know you do need to be eating pleanty of good protein before surg, well all the time, but expecially now, i don't know how much though, i know too much isn't good for the kidneys, or so i heard! Heck I don't know how i know that it maynot be true? sorry i guess i wasn't much help!!! where's Dx or the Queen, they'll know? -dawn-
Sue,
my surgeon encouraged to start protein shakes a month ahead of surgery, this will build up the protein stored in your body and help your body heal quicker. I know I'm a bit long - winded on my answers, just to make a long story short, it will probably help with the hairloss ( I'm kinda on Dex's side there, compared to some of the people I know, who lost MOST of their hair, I sure have a healthy head of hair! ) AND it miraculously helped me heal when I popped three of my 21 staples in my bellybutton three days after surgery, I had a gaping hole and almost freaked that night. The next morning it was closed by itself and never re-opened. The doctor attributes this to the protein. Your body needs it. By all means, start it 2-4 weeks pre op, your body DOES store it for when it needs it. I was glad I did !
