Ok guys, now that I am officially approved hahaha, I have tons of questions. I haven't had my doctor appt. yet but I am sure that will all go well. For anyone that has had surgery in Oxford, how are the rooms set up. Is there sleeping arrangements for someone to stay with you? Sue

Hey Sue, I had my surgery with Dr King so if I can answer or try to answer any questions just let me know. My room was "semiprivate" but I was the only one in it. I don't know if it is always like this or what. But my hubby slept in the other bed. I had a great experience with the nurses and staff. Everyone was very friendly. Becky

Hey Sue It depends on your room. If you have a "private room" there is a large couch that Sort of folds or slides out for someone to sleep on. If you don't have a private room, Very often you will still be in there alone but with Two Beds so that your "Visitor" can have a place to lie down. I had a single room (for one of my visits) and my wife and or son Slept on the couch. This was the same arrangement this week in Short n Sassy's Room. Her Husband along with Mom and Dad, were all lined up on the couch But they took shifts by having a room at the Super 8 motel which Is just across the street from the Hospital. As you think of more questions and I think of more Stuff that I wish I had thought of, or remember being useful, I'll pass it on. Best Wishes- Dx

Sue, The Oxford Hospital is GREAT!! One of my best friends from high school is over the Endo and Outpatient dept. (Nikki Griffin). All the nurses down there are great and once I was moved to the floor, the nurses up there were great. I have to say everyone that came in my room from the janitors, aides, nurses, etc. were wonderful. The hospital is very clean. My husband doesn't like hospital food, but he even said what he ate from the cafeteria was pretty good. I had a private room so my husband slept on the couch. It wasn't a big room but it was comfortable. The thing that I took to the hospital that I liked the most was my mushi pillow (the squishy beanie pillows). It is great to put across your stomach if you have to cough. I just enjoyed mine because it is so soft...and it just made me feel better. Dr. Byars and Dr. King are super and you will be in good hands. Congratulations on your approval and good luck, Michelle H.
