Hello everyone I'm a new member who is scheduled to have Surgery 31 May. I'm really getting a little scared. I having it at the Keesler Medical center, and need all the support you guys can offer. Please email me some information.

hi cheryl , i'm dawn i'm new here too only been posting about 2 weeks. All of the poeple on here are so great they have really helped me alot. i haven't even got my refferal yet but have a appt with my pcm at keesler also an the 26th! You really need to talk to arlis aka "the Queen" and rhonda they both had their surgs done at keesler and give the drs rave rewiews. just wanted to say hi and welcome you . i'll be thinking of you on the 31st please let me know if i can help in any way i live in ocean springs email me and i give you my number i would like to talk to you, you probably have infomation i could use! thanks -dawn -

Hey again, Cheryl and welcome to the family!!! Have you been to the support group meeting at Keesler? I think it's the last Monday of the month. I will be coming to the one in July when I have my 6 month checkup if I can schedule my appt to coincide with the meeting. Also, check further down on the board for the info about the Mississippi Bash on June 5 at Kamper Park in Hattiesburg. It will be an excellent way to meet lots of us folks - if you are up to it that soon after surgery! We'd love to see you! Which Doc do you have? Tell 'em the Queen said they better treat you right, but they better remember who they love the best!!!!!! (that'd be me!) Smoochies Arlies

Hi Cheryl ! Welcome to our MS board. We're glad to have you and happy to see new folks here. Our group of "LOSERS" is getting bigger and bigger here. How exciting There's a vast amount of info on this board, lots of Keesler folks and people in this area on the coast if you need support. You're being kind of vague about what info you're looking for? I'll be glad to get you info but don't know what you're looking for. If you need information on what to expect post op, or what sort of things you ought to buy now before surgery, you may also want to check out everyone's profile on this board. All of us Posties put a lot of info on these profiles and it may answer your questions already if you look at a few of them. If you can't find what you need, let us know. Hi Cheryl, Welcome to the board. I had my surgery on March 1 at Keesler Medical Center. My surgeon was Dr. Mann and he is the GREATEST! He is one of the nicest doctors I have ever had to deal with. He has a great bedside manner and is very caring. Arlies had Dr. Jenkins and I have heard all good things about him as well. I have a friend in Ocean Springs, Margaret, that had Dr. Dolan and she says he is great. So, I think you are in great hands with which ever doctor you get. If you read my profile and Arlies Q's profile you can read a little more detail of what our surgeries were like. I had several complications but it happens to some of us, I was just one of the lucky ones Our support group meetings at Keesler are the last Tuesday of each month, this month it is on the 31st which is the day of your surgery so I know you will not be there, but I will try to come up and check on you that day if you don't mind. If you have any questions, feel free to post them, there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this site that have been through or are planning to go through the same procedure that you are.
