Food Card?

Hey guys and girls, Could someone please tell me where to get a food card. As you all know I am very close to being a looser. Does the doctor give it or do you get it off the internet. Please reply I am kinda dummmb. Thanks, Nan

You have to get it from your doctor after you have surgery. Bear1415

You can google on "medical id bracelet" and find a bazillion sites for them. They will inscribe what you want on it. Mine says: Arlies King Medicare & Tricare Bariatric Surgery PT No Blind NG tube No NSAIDS And I ordered it from Dixie Chick (she is an obesity help member).....She is an Alabama girl and does an excellent job on her bracelets......You can get them from her for reasonable to fairly pricey amounts, depending on what you want.....of course, mine is beautiful!!!! My doctor gave me my card upon leaving the hospital. In the first few months after surgery I had no problem using my card. I found several places that honored them. Those same places no longer honor them. The cards can be made and gotten online by most anyone. They are being mass produced, and I was told they had to stop honoring them for that reason. So I don't know if the cards actually are any good anymore. Bear was told the same thing by one restaurant as well. So I don't even try to use mine anymore. But your doctor will give one to you. So far I have only found one place that didnt honor them and that was the fire mountain grill I do know that Barnhills honors them And so does Applebees or they did a couple of weeks ago. Bear1415

Barnhills and Fire Mountain were two places I had gone that had honored them, but when I went last neither of them would. I guess at Barnhills it depends on who waits on you because they have honored mine before but wouldn't last time. I haven't had much luck with my card. I have been told by several places they have no way of checking if the cards are legitimate or not and they are seeing them more and more and if the cards are not legitimate it could effect their business negatively. I am sure in the future they will come up with a better way. But thanks for the info, I will have to check out Applebees. I know that Lone Star will let you order off the children's menu if you have a card. So that is two places anyway. And I like Applebees. See you Monday night. I may not recognize you. I have found at Barnhills you need to ask for the manager and let him see the card and explain it to him and he wil give youthe childs price. Applebees is the same way any time you try to use your card you should ask to speak to the manager since alot of the employees dont know the proper policy on it. Bear1415

Hey Nan, I think they have some here on this site that you can print off. However, are you sure that you want to use one ? I know that we all have different opinions on things, but MY thinking is..... I don't want one after surgery. I don't think that I should have "special" treatment just because I had ( will have ) WLS. I would rather pay full price & take home a "doggie bag", eat off of my husbands plate or do without. But, that is me. Too many people (liars) take advantage of these cards is one reason I don't want one. A few weeks back, Arlies went to a Chinese place in the Jackson area and asked about a discount. Needless to say that it didn't go over to well with the owners. Simply because a lady had been in there a few days earlier with a Medic-Id bracelet saying that she had WLS and wanted a discount. Well, they gave the lady one. Then she ate 3 or 4 plates full of food. Soooo.... the owners were burned by that one person. ~~~~~ Now at the risk of getting flamed..... ~~~~~ That one over weight, lying, cheap butt lady has put a bad name on people who have had WLS & want to honestly use their restaurant cards. That Ho' had to be starving to death to go in & tell a ball faced lie. Just to get a discount mind you !!! I don't look down of those who do use them. If they can use them, then the best of luck & happy wishes to them. I'll stand by & Cheer them on to save that Dollar. But I'm not going to use one, its my fault that I've resorted to WLS. I put every bite of food in my mouth. Not one person stood over me holding a gun to my head to make me eat. So, full price is what I'll pay. Just my opinion..... Tammy
