Ummm Touchy Subject
Not to gross anyone out, but it seems that from alot of recent posts, everybody is throwing up what they eat.
How often does this happen? Is it a matter of eating smaller bites, chewing longer, or changing to different foods? Does it get better with time?
I am scared to death about this happening when I am at work. Sorry for so many questions.

Hey Sue,
I guess I am one of the lucky ones but so far
I have not thrown up not even one time. I have
felt nausated a time or not but it never happened.
I better knock on some wood now. ha ha. I am
probably the exception to the rule. It's been
6 months so far so good.
Good Luck
Becky
ps Have you heard from the ins. anymore?
Hey Sue, I got sick a little bit right in the beginning when transitioning from soft foods to real foods, and it was my own fault every time. You just have to retrain yourself to eat smaller bites and chew better. Once I got that learned and made a new habit of it, I have been fine. I very rarely get sick and throw up. I did get sick Saturday but I did not chew a piece of meat well enough. And it had been months since I had been sick. I have been really lucky. I tolerate most all foods and very rarely feel bad or get sick. And when I do it is of my own doing by not following the rules of small bites and lots of chewing. That is why I have learned to never put a piece of meat on my plate before cutting it up. I fix my plate like I would for my three year old. Everything is precut into little bites before I sit down to eat. That helps me alot.

Sue,
I have only thrown up 4 times since surgery 7 mos ago. The first 2 times was from not knowing how much my stomach could handle. It was definatly from one bite too much.
The past 2 times have been from the past 2 days. I believe the first time was because of the grease in the crab sand. The time yesterday I think was because of the grease in the chili since I mostly just had the juice from it and a few fries.
Yes, I believe it may be a matter of eating slower, chewing longer, and avoiding foods with a lot of grease in them.
Today I brought a Lemon Fish boxed meal with 280 cals.. I didnt want it and so I am eating a bacon ranch salad from Mcdonalds.
Since 02-02-04 I have thrown up only about 6 times for the following reasons:
1. I ate 5 shrimp instead of 4 (my limit)
2. I ate one bite too much
3. I did not chew enough
4. I ate and did not wait long enough before drinking something
5. I tried meat too soon
I get a full feeling and I have always had time to get to restroom.
This has relly not been a big problem to me.

Sometimes, I get too hungry - I wait too long to eat, and I throw up....
Sometimes, I eat too fast and I throw up....
Sometimes, a spice will get me and I throw up....
Sometimes I don't chew well enough and I throw up....
Sometimes the wind is blowing in the wrong direction and I throw up....
Every couple of weeks, I seem to go thru a spell of a day or two when NOTHING agrees with me, but fortunately most of the time I am okay! Haven't thrown up in public yet, but have considered it in walmart.....just couldn't figure out whether to puke and run or puke and tell....so I went to the bathroom and did it there!!!
I know I am awful!!!
Love ya,
