I went to Ryan's resturant last night and found out they don't honor people that have had gastric bypass surgery. SOoooo I paid 8 or 9 dollars for a few tablespoons of mashed potatoes and bean liqor. I also did have a few ounces of tea. ANyway I thought we may could write Ryan's and ask them to change their policy. Just go to their website. I typed in Ryan's and it was one of the choices given. Thanks and have a great day. Jane

I have never even tried to use my card. I heard that Ryans did honor them but I have never tried. Do we even have a Ryans here anymore? I thought it was Fire Mountain now... Is that 2 seperate companies... I think Outback honors them.... I know how you feel about paying full price for a buffet. Thats why I dont even attempt a buffet. Its not worth it for the price you pay and I am a tight wad!

Your right Christine we dont have a Ryans in hattiesburg anymore it is Fire Mountain. And they DO NOT except our card nor do they offer the military discount. I asked the girl why they wouldnot except my card and she said they did up until Jan. and their mng cut it out along with the military discount. So what I did was order a drink and ate off my friends plate. I was not concerned in getting caught or anything I figured their loss. The only reason I went is cause my friend had really been wanting to try it cause she had heard it was good. I stay away from buffets also not worth my money. Denise

Hi Jane, I have only tried my card one time, and it was at a buffet. It was actually at the Casino in Philadelphia, MS. I had to go there during the day to conduct a health fair and was stuck there for lunch. I asked about a child's rate for the buffet and explained that I had recently had gastric bypass and they gladly gave me the discount. Of course, the girl at the register was considering the surgery, so that may have helped! Hang in there, there are still a LOT of people that just have NO idea what gastric bypass is about. They have no idea just how small our meals are - oh well, as I like to say. GOD bless the ignorant! james.

I have meant to post avbout this I am sorry I didnt. I too went to ryans/fire mountain grill in Hattiesburg and was told the same thing. I wrote to the corporate email I found on their site and this is the reply I recieved. Thank you for your comments of the Gastric Bypass Meal Card. Unfortunately we do not honor these cards. The reason for our decision is that these cards are being mass produced and area readily available to the general public. A legitimate card is totally indistinguishable from a falsified one, therefore, we must protect our restaurants against this form of abuse and deny their use. We certainly understand your disappointment with our decision but as a business owner we must protect our interests. So it looks like we wont be using ryans any more. Just wanted to let you all know. And, I can understand this -Their point of view... We can produce these cards from this very own web site.. Who is going to determine whether or not its true or a fake card? I will pull my shirt up and show my scar...but it aint worth it. I will just go somewhere where I can order off a menu.. Much cheaper AND it doesnt put you in a situation where you can EASILY overeat. If we have to go to a buffet I will go but its not a situation where I go often. See if they will let you get a to go box.. Someplaces will do that and charge you by the weight.

Piccadilly is on my poo-poo list because they won't let me have a child's plate. That is my favorite restaurant and we USED to eat there a lot but not anymore. Shame on you, Piccadilly. Kits

Sizzlin' in Laurel will let you eat the child's price on the buffet. I asked in Jackson at the New China Buffet in front of Pearl Walmart. The host said she thought they did. Then she asked the owner and he said, "NO!" Reason was the night before I went a lady had came in and shown her medical ID bracelet that said she had had a gastric bypass. They let her eat for the child's price and then she proceeded to eat 3 rather large plates. They really felt like it was a ruse to get more for less. I told them that was okay, I just was asking, but would pay full price. It was $11.95, but the one little rib I ate was so good that it was worth each and every penny of that $11.95!!!! I had craved ribs for ages and that one hit the spot!!! And to tell you the truth, I don't blame the buinesses for not being willing to do this. I know some ladies that have had the gastric bypass and at Ryan's will get extra plates since they don't give the discount and then just mess up the food and not eat it. And I think that's awful!!! But at the same time, I DO appreciate any break I can get! But the problem is that not everybody is honest....... I would decree honesty in everyone if I just could! Smoochies Arlies
