Yesterday about 2:30pm I got a phone call from the Sleep Disorder Clinic at the UMC. They had a cancellation and wanted to know if I could come over for the test. Well of course the answer was YES !!! We got over there about 6:00pm (never hurts to be early). And I guess it is a good thing that we did. I was SO sick to my stomach. NERVES !!! Don't know why, but I was scared to death. I guess it was the thought of my hubby leaving me there in this strange place all by myself. Well, they got me all hooked up to all the gazillion wires. I could have tunned in a radio station 6 miles away I think. They let my hubby stay there and watch TV with me till I got sleepy. Before I went to lay down, they said that another family was suppose to be there for a test also, but since they didn't show up, hubby could stay the night in the other testing room. Boy was I glad to hear that. That was a hugh load off of my mind. I went to sleep about 9:00pm & had to get up about 1:30am to go to the restroom. Next thing I knew, they were getting me up at a little before 6:00am. Kinda odd though, because it was suppose to be a split night sleep study. (cpap mask half the night). Now I'm wondering, do I even need one. Because I know that the techs know just as much about the test results as the doctor. So, I'm thinking that maybe I don't need a cpap machine. And maybe they don't think so either. Stands to reason that if there were any type of signs that I did need one, they would have done the other half of the testing. Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part. Hope Not !!! Now, my head is full of goo from He!!. I'm thinking that I may never get all this junk out of my hair. I have very thick hair, which is making it worse. They said wash my hair with the hottes****er that I could stand. Didn't really work to well though. I'll be picking out goo for a year !!! If I'm lucky, I'll be done picking in a year. I go back on April 28, 2005 @ 8:30am for the results. PRAY THEY GOT WHAT THEY NEEDED & I DON'T NEED THE CPAP !!! Any tips on how to get this junk out of my hair WITHOUT pain would be great !!! Tammy

I am so happy you finally got this done. This was the last thing, wasnt it? I really admire you for the way you have handled all your pre op stuff. I have never been a patient person. Your results will be fine. You wont need that sticking machine. I dont have tips for you to get that goo out... I know lighter fluid got gum out of my daughters hair... Yes, I know.. bad momma... Its all that would work though... Try it but dont light a candle!

Hey Christine, As far as I know this is it..... Until they come up with something else !!! That is the way my luck tends to run at times. Lighter Fluid ??? Hmmmmmmm....... Why all of the sudden do I see myself being chased by a blank faced, can't describe what they are wearing, someone with a struck match ??? But OH HAPPY DAY if it will work. This junk is running me crazy as a loon. My hair has been washed 3 times today. My head is so sore from the scrubbing !!! I just may not brush my hair for a week cause my head is so tender. \\\ll/// ~OO~ *(--)* Tammy

HI Tams, I have had 2 sleep studies and I was told to use hair condioner and let it set about 15 mins. It worked for me. Good Luck on getting the goo out. I am so happy for you, now you are another step closer to being on the losing side. Take Care, Jo

Tammy, Christine, and Brenda if you all don't keep that lighter fluid and glue solvent from your hair. Do like Jo said and put some kind of conditioner or oil sheen on it and it should slide out. Then you can put a plastic shower cap on and get a deep conditioning and relax while getting that. Let your DH message your head and you will feel much much better. My test was inconclusive whatever that meant. He said I had one little problem where he almost put me on the machine but I corrected myself and everything else was sort of normal. I was told I could be on the machine or not. I know, I couldn't understand it either. Janet said everything was okay and I didn't need to do anything else. That was my last test I had to do. Hope everything works out. You are right, if they didn't put a machine on you, you probaly didn't need it. Take Care
