Please help .... Golden Triangle people....
Yesterday I learned that if your not in a support group you are likely to gain after a year. I don't want to chance gaining weight after a year nor do I have time to travel even if it's just once a month.
Those of you that live in or around Starkville, Columbus and West Point, MS that have had surgery , has a date or wanting the surgery we need a support group!!!
From what I have found there is NOT one and we have to drive to Meridian, Hattiesburg or Jackson to get that personal support. I have found that those people are GREAT, but those of us that work and have a family need the convince and closeness as well.
Please .... I have a GREAT friend that is head of a support group in Alabama that said she would help us set it up and get it started. We just need people that are interested in going local so we can get it started.
I have heard that too and it scares me to death. I have never missed 1 support group meeting. Our group is in Hattiesburg and I have made some wonderful friends from the group. It is truly a necessity to have these people. They are the one folks in this world who KNOW what its like.
I personally need this interaction. I do have issues that I dont think are discussed like they should and thru my support group I have found I am not alone and talking to others about it and dealing with it the right way is important. Sometimes we NEED other people to guide us and be honest with us and flat out tell us that what we are doing is stupid.
I do wish you luck in getting a support group started. Run an ad in the local newspaper or put signs up at churches telling people to call you if interested. There should be lots of us out there nowadays...
Talk to you later!
I agree with Christine. Sometime people don't like talking about it or exposing themselves as having this surgery. That iswhy I tell everybody I meet because it doesn't bother me. On your flier let them know how important it will be to vent, express themselves, give support and receive it as well for continued success. They will come around. I hope it goes well.
