Getting Better every day!

Hello everyone. Sorry I have been so bad about posting. However, I do try to read the posts every day. I have been trying my best to re-coup. I still can't get myself to drink the amount of fluid I need to be drinking. I am only getting in about half of the fluid and half of the protein. My energy level has been climbing each day though. Yesterday, I walked more than I have been and today here it is 7:25 a.m. and I am up and dressed drinking my protein shake for the morning. So, something must be working. I go back to the doctor tomorrow, so we will see what he says. My scales say that I have lost 21 pds total. That is 16 since the surgery and 5 from two weeks before that. I am very happy with that. I can tell that I have already started losing inches by the way my clothes already fit. I am not yet to the point where I think this is the best thing I have ever done in my life because I am having some major problems not being able to eat anything I want. I will just be glad to get to stage three at this point.. anything of substance sounds good. It is funny how you don't realize just how many commercials on T.V are food commercials until you have this surgery.. Uggghhh.. If I see another BK commercial advertising their bacon cheese ranch chicken sandwich I am going to die.. Love you guys, and thank you so much for all the support that you have shown me. I sure wish I lived close enough to meet you for lunch... what am I saying? I could not sit there while all of you eat and sip my protein drink.. well maybe if I lived there next month.. Rhonda

Good Morning, Rhonda, so glad to see you're doing better. I have complete faith in you, and I'll give you another week or two till you will agree that you have made the choice for the BEST thing you've ever done for yourself. That feeling " like you'll never get to eat anything you want " will subside once you start the solids and if you're lucky you get like me, I CAN, but I just choose healthier foods now and make smarter choices. Those food commercials on TV used to bother me big time and I remember quite well, being in tears over hubby eating a whopper while I sipped my protein shake. Grrrrrr. Now it doesn't bother me any more, if it gets real bad, I take a bite for flavor and then munch on my beef jerky Just hang in there, you'll be just fine, I promise. Great job on the walking, keep it up and just do your best, Girl, WAY TO GO~~~~ !!!! ~Andie~

Honey I was watching the food channel on my 3rd day post op. It was awful. Are you not on soft foods yet? Well, I guess not... You arent quite 10 days yet. Thats when I went on soft foods. It gets easier. I promise. Once you are able to eat regular food you will be okay. I had to get out of my house alot because I found myself walking back and forth to and from the refridgerator. I knew I couldnt eat any of it but it didnt sto me from checking it all out. Its probably alot of head hunger going on right now. That is one of my demons. We will get past them though. You are doing real good. 21 pounds is great! Keep it up and let me know if I can do anything for you! Christine VACATION IN T MINUS 3 DAYS!

Hey Rhonda, Hang in there, I only a week or so behind you. My problem so far is how much I drink in one GULP. I woke up last night thirsty and just reached over and grabbed by bottle of water and WOW, I knew that was my bigginst drink since surgery! As far as the fast food, My loving wife (also a psychologist, but for children) started early on desensitizing me. As soon as I was out of surgery she was at Chik-Fil-A. She went to McDonalds, Backyard Burgers, you get the picture. This was during my nausea phase, and needless to say, I didn't have any trouble passing the Wendy's on the way home from the hospital. You have more resiliance than you give yourself credit for. You will come through this shining like a new penny, or at least one that was left in the washing machine! james.
