Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, Mississippi Peeps!
I am rarely a "Political Activist."
But today?
My "Dander is WAY up!"
I just got the letter in the mail that informed me that
The State of Mississippi is in the course of action to
SHUTDOWN Medicare/Medicaid.
In my case,
The nursing home tha****ches over my Mother-in-law-
(9 years of Alzheimer's, unable to recognize any member of the family,
Toilet herself, feed herself, speak, etc....)
-Sent us a letter that said that the State has informed them
That they will stop all payments at the end of this month
Unless 350 million can be raised.
In my case, this would mean either taking my Mother-in-law
Back into my home and finding a "round-the-clock" nursing staff,
$800+ per week, if even possible,
Or, paying $500+ a week, to continue the services provided
By the nursing home presently.
We already pay $120 a week, beyond what Medicare pays, so the total would be
Around $620+ every week.
And that's if we went for the cheap route and didn't take her
Back into our home.
The State gets a "Deal" through Medicare/Medicaid,
And only pays the nursing home about $160 per week.
I am beyond UPSET with our legislatures!!!!!!!!!!
To have recently wasted 300 million Plus on the failed
Beef Processing Plant, to turn around and hold the taxpayers
Hostage, just so they can justify a tax on cigarettes?
Angry, does not begin to express my feelings.
And what about those of you using Medicare/Medicaid?
Have you gotten letters from your hospitals, Dr.'s, Clinics
To inform you that- "The Deal is Off?"
What to do, what to do?
Here is the letter I have just e-mailed to every representative of the state-
Dear Sir, (or Madam in your district)
The recent and ongoing funding problems with the State's
Medicare system must be made solvent by the end of the month.
If this method of holding the tax-payers hostage, by threatening
To send their elders out of nursing homes, cutting life supporting aid,
Denying basic health Care to those unable to provide for themselves is
The only way that you and your colleagues can justify a tax increase,
Then so be it.
But however, if by the end of the month, this situation is not rectified,
Then know that you have me, and the other members of my extended Family,
And those that they come in contact with on a daily basis, living for ONE CAUSE!
To see you- OUT OF OFFICE at the earliest possible time.
I will make this my community service, my hobby, my life's ambition.
Please let us, the voters, know how we should proceed.
Either in the continued support of your office,
Or the devout ambition of ending your involvement in public service.
Thank you for speedy attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
_______________ (Registered and Active Voter)
If you are at all politically inclined,
Or have an interest in seeing the Medicare/Medicaid of the State of Mississippi
Remain solvent, (either for your own interests or those of your community)
Please take a "cyber minute" and e-mail your Representatives, Congressmen, Senator, etc...
Here is a link of all of the pertinent e-mails and addresses-

Just remember to drop the-

In front of it.
Ya'll, this is a problem that must be solved, and soon.
Thanks for taking up the effort,
Or even your good thoughts and or prayers.
Best Wishes-

Dx,
TJ and I will do the same as we've been in this situation with TJ's father before we lost him and it's amazing how quickly the funds go and how difficult it is to find suitable home care while trying to continue with our own jobs. Bless you heart ... what a mess!
You know TJ is an elected official and I've sent you an email (I'm assuming you go it) that outlines more of what he does. I can't tell you how frustrating it is to hear promises of funding that never comes through. I thought opening casino gambling in our state was going to give us all sorts of revenue... yeah, right!!
Keep us posted and we'll cybermail our voices tonight on your behalf as well as others who will also be affected.
