oh no..
well my husband was laid off.
his insurance was stellar and we had everything well underway. my first set of pre-op tests and consults were next tuesday.
then today we get our information in the mail concerning our continued coverage cobra plan.
$898 per month!!
who can afford that?!?!
So i have to call tomorrow and tell them to cancel my appointment. I don't know what else to do.
I have state employee BCBS through my work, but I've talked to them until i'm blue in the face.
i'm so sad right now that i don't know what to do.
everything was going along so fine, and then this.
*sob*
Hi Michelle...
I dont know how far in your process you are but if you are really close I would talk to my surgeon about getting this done pretty quickly. If its something that could happen in the next month or so I would see about doing the cobra. I know thats alot of money but if you could do it for a month and have your surgery in that month--it will be well worth it.
Dont forget too about Voc Rehab. Its a long process but they have really good results.
I wish you well... dont give up! I know how frustrated you must be right now.
Oh Michelle,
That is just so terrible. Such a dissapointment I know. Do check with them and see if it's possible to do this VERY soon, if not, keep plugging along. State insurance sucks - I remember a time when people were excited to be state employees because of the benefits. Hmmmmm - what ever happened? I pray that your hubby finds new employment soon and that you will land on your feet.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I had BCBS of MS & they totally exclude wls.
Do jump on voc rehab asap. They do cover it but I now there is a lot of paperwork & jumping thru hoops but it will be so worth it.
Maybe he will find another job really quick with coverage? I think you have like 62 days to get more coverage to keep from having to wait for things like pre-existing, etc...
I'll be thinking about you & hope this all works out really soon. I had to pick up a second job to get ins. that would cover mine. Is that an option, or changing jobs? I'd have done whatever it took to get where I am today.
(((((HUGS)))))
It had been pre-approved but unless we opt to continue coverage it will not still be covered.
This has been a tragic blow in a long list of downward spiralling events that have occurred over the last month.
It broke my heart to call today and cancel my appointment for next Tuesday for my first set of pre-op tests.
I'm trying to look on the bright side, but it's very difficult to do right now. I think my optimism motor has just about ran out of fuel.
*sigh*
