Medicaid Q

Hey all you fellow Mississippians!! I am a newbie, so bear with me. I tried for surgery several years ago under a private insurance plan and was denied. I have medicaid now and went to Dr. Cleveland at CMMC in Jackson about 2 years ago---they flat told me medicaid will NOT cover this. I have been doing some digging and I have found several people on this sight who was approved by Medicaid---please---if anyone has any tips on getting approved or any surgeons in Mississippi who will accept Medicaid---PLEASE lemme know---THANX!! Hi Jen, I have heard that medicade of Mississippi will not pay for WLS. But however, Medicare of Mississippi will pay for WLS. I know cause Medicare paid for my surgery Sept 2004. I also used Dr Cleveland at CMMC and have had wonderful success. There are some states that Medicade will cover WLS, but MIssissippi happens to not be one of those states. Hello & Welcome to the Ms State Message Board. I have no idea about Medicaid or Medicare. Sorry. Have you thought about trying to get finacial aid at the UMC ? They are really backed up though. But it is still worth checking into. Tammy

Hey Jennifer!! Glad to have you!! Please come back often and post and keep us informed. I really don't know anything about medicaid. Is that the same as medicare? I am on disablity and somebody told me that when my medicare insurance kicked in, it would pay for the surgery, but it was not an official that told me that. And I have tricare, so that's what I used. I know I am no help, but I wanted to say hi and welcome you to the board! Smooch Arlies
