I was 232 at my consultation w/ Dr. Whitehead several months ago. I've been bad as far as diet goes & mainly eating whatever cuz I figure its my last chance. Havent been walking away the pounds either .lol I know thats bad. Anyway I've gaine 2-4 #s. So my ? is if I go on a diet now & lose down to 220#s, my bmi will be 40, will they try to knock me out of having the surgery? I wouldn't think they would but I don't wanna screw up my chance. I already have a date of july 6 & I have my pre op appt. june 19. Please help!

I dont think Dr. Whitehead will try to stop you from having surgery. I lost 9 pounds before my surgery. My BMI was still 44 though. Most companies allow surgery with BMIs over 35 with comorbities anyway. I had food funerals too but dont sweat it - you will get to eat again. I PROMISE. I pretty much eat what I want. Its not the end! Christine

Melissa, I had heard that your weight at the consult is what is submitted to the insurance company, so any weight loss you have during the process will not effect your eligibility. Good luck- Carrie
