Minimum/Optimal/Maximum
I met with my nutritionist yesterday and this is what he told me I should be getting in a day....
Minimum: (600-800 Calories) Protein 42G - Fat 15G - Carbs 60G
Optimal: (1200 Calories) Protein 60G - Fat 50G - Carbs 120G
Maximum: (1600 Calories) Protein 80G - Fat 65G - Carbs 200G
Ok... I am in between Minimum and Optimal right now. He says I should be at Optimal. When we were doing fitday -I fretted over the amounts of carbs and fat I was getting in a day and I shouldnt have. As long as we stay below Maximum we will lose. Maximum is for while you are maintaining. You wont gain and you wont lose.
I was concerned about my water intake and he said ANY liquid is okay as long as it is not carbonated. Drink 48-64 ounces of liquids (water, juice, milk, tea, etc..) Carbonated drinks are okay just dont count them as part of my fluids... The big issue with the carbonated drinks is---when we are healed the carbonation irritates the stoma and can cause it to stretch (the STOMA not the stomach). If this happens we are able to eat more food at one sitting. That is why they prefer you not to drink carbonated drinks until you are completely healed.
Per day I should be getting: 6 ounces of protein, 3-4 servings of starches, 2-3 whole fruits, 2 cups of vegetables, and 2-4 servings of fat. Of course he is aware I cant do this yet but in the next 4 months or so I should be here.
He said my weight loss was phenomonal but should eat more vegetables.
I hope the above Minimums/Optimals/Maximums helps someone. I had forgotten all of this after my surgery.
I am 4.5 mos post op and I have lost 79 pounds. It is my time of the month and for about 5 days before my period until after my period I dont lose. But when its gone I lose about 7 pounds that following week then I slow down again... I am okay with this.
How are you doing? I know you are getting excited. I was a nervous wreck before mine but you are going to be fine!
Talk to you soon!
