Trouble sleeping....

I am suddenly having trouble sleeping...I wake up at 2 or 3 in the morning and can't go back to sleep. Sure makes the day long! Think it might be anxiety? I'm still working on the water...can't believe that I'm actually going to have this surgery! I have waited so long...I just can't believe that I am finally going to lose weight! What's the "tube down the throat" test like? June

June, I am sooo glad you are finally fixin to begin your new life. The long journey to getting the tool that you have longed for to get your health back in line is almost over, and I know that you will be just fine! Try a warm glass of low fat hot coco at 2 am or whenever you wake up and usually that will help you fall back asleep. (just a suggestion) God Bless, Angie Bea

Hi June, It could be "nerves" Thinking about your big Life Change Coming up in less than a month. Like 'Pre-Wedding Jitters.' I'm at 18+ months Post-Op and at goal For the last month and a half. I wouldn't change a thing! The "tube down the throat" test? Is this the Endoscopy? Where they look to see If there are ulcers and such? If so, that's a breeze. They sedate you for it. I don't remember a thing about it- Just waking up afterwards and feeling A little groggy at first. If you have trouble sleeping through the night- Try some Melatonin. Get it at the pharmacy section of the store. It's not a 'drug' but rather a natural hormone that is made by your body to signal your system that it's 'time to sleep.' Works great! And no morning after effects. Best Wishes- Dx

Yeppers, sounds like nerves to me! I didn't have the tube down the throat test, so I dunno about that. I went thru spells of getiing up at 1 am before surgery and staying awake until Em got off to school at 7:15. It is miserable, but it will pass. If you read, knit, or crochet, that may relax you enough to fall back asleep. Hang in there! I kept saying I'd catch up on my sleep the day of surgery! Smooch Arlies

Hi June. Tube down the throat test? Is this before surgery or are you talking about the tube they put in after your asleep and ready for surgery? If its the latter one - its not terribly bad. I didnt have any kind of pre-op test before surgery that I had to have a tube in my throat so I wouldnt know. Sounds like you are having nervous problems. I did the same thing-nervous, excited, scared, happy!! It natural. Not enough time in the day to feel all those emotions. You will be fine... Christine -79

Have you been checked for sleep apnea? Are you neighbors on a different "schedule"? Drink some water or FF milk. This will be handy post op too. I wake up extremely thirsty, drink something and can usually go back to sleep unless I'm stressed about something. Dunno about tube test. Did not have it. Had a tube after surgery. Removal was not bad, except the student nurse pulled it too slowly. YOU will be fine. Smile!Smile! Smile! Attitude is everything.
