TWO WEEK CHECKUP

I went in to see my doc on Tuesday and get the rest of my staples out (yeah). I had lost 21 pounds! I am feeling stronger and better since my staples are out. I still have a hard time sleeping because I can only sleep on my back. I can't wait until I can sleep on my side again. I don't know how long that will be, but I'm looking foreward to it. I am starting to eat some "real" food, not just protein shakes and fluids, and I seem to be doing OK. I have to admit that I have been having a lot of fear about eating regular food. First, it's not very appetizing (any of it) and then I don't want to get sick. I got sick on my 2 hour ride home from the hospital and threw up for about 6-8 hours before I could get my stomach settled. I NEVER want that to happen again! Hopefully, I'll post more in the near future.... Sitting up for long periods still bothers me. Hope everyone is well. When I start eating I'll join our Fit Day Club again... Right now, just getting my protein drink and water in is about all I can do. Blessings, Carolyn

Great Job!! I am sure that finding out you lost 21 pds made you really happy! I am glad to hear that you are feeling stronger. Try to take it easy until you are all healed up. Remember one of the most important things about eating "real" food is to eat slow and chew alot... Don't drink while you eat. I have heard a lot of people say that they get sick if they eat too fast. Just be careful and Good Luck!! I think not being able to sleep on my side will be one of my big problems too! I am not used to sleeping on my back but I know that I will have to get used to it for a little while. My surgery is March 1, any words of wisdom to help prepare me? Congrats again on your weight loss! Rhonda

I'll bet after you get the staples out , you can lay on your side . I could. Roll a towel on place it under your stomach on the side you want to lay on. I had/have a big droopy stomach. This works for me. Please don't push eating too many normal meals. Get your protein and water. Train your body that "normal meals" are what got us fat. I am one year out and eat few meals that are like the rest of the family. I break the family meal into separate meals for myself. Maybe two veggies now and next meal protein and fruit. Small portions will fill you up. I eat from a saucer. I drink from a child's cup unless it's my water bottle!!!!! Remember to take care of your pouch and use self control in the food intake. glenda 02-02-04 till 02-02-05 minus 211 pounds

You have some very impressive numbers, 211 pds in one year is totally awesome!! Thank you very much for all the advice! I am excited about beginning my new life, but also very scared! I will definitely try the towel rolled and placed under my stomach so that I can sleep on my side. I know that the main reason I wouldn't be able to is the pain from the sore muscles. I can see where propping my stomach up on a towel could help alot. Thanks Again! Rhonda

WE all know you Texas girls are tough!! Glad your staples are out! I didn't have any, I was super-glued!!! After about a week or two, I could sleep on my side! Trust me, I sympathize with the upchucks! They ain't no fun and I'd rather NEVER, EVER eat again than have to throw up! Smoochies Arlies
