bad memory
Thanks! Arlies, I knew if anyone could answer my ?? you could!
I though it was where they checked for bacteria in the lining of your stomach by breathing into a bag, drinking something then breathing into another bag.
Do they do this EGD while you are awake and can you feel it? Okay, when it comes to getting my finger *****ed, I do become child like. Just be honest with me and tell me the whole procedure???
Thanks!!
Daphne

Smooch,
Arlies
I had it done twice for strictures at 4 and 9 weeks post-op. I thought EGD was for Esophageal Gastric Dilation which is what my doc refers to it as because the end of the esophagus (E)and the openning of the pouch (G for gastric) is stretched (Dilation). Ya learn something new everyday.
In my case, the openning into my pouch needed to be dilated by inserting the endoscopy tube into the esophagus, viewing the area with a camera and blowing up a little balloon to stretch the openning. I was given Versed (sp?) via IV and fell asleep. The first one I woke up in the middle and tried to talk with the block in my mouth but it wasn't traumatic. I had a little sore throat for a while from the abrasion but that was all. I was so relieved to have the stricture gone, I would have been happy with anything. The second time I don't remember a thing after the Versed.
