A few notes from a POST-OP!
POST-OP!!! HEH...HEH..HEH....How's about that????
Notes to beloved friends:
1. Order your med-alert bracelet BEFORE you go to the hospital. You really need to leave the hospital wearing it. The least expensive I found was from the store at obesityhelp.com ($29.95, I think). Or you can go fancier....the one I got is the run-of-the-mill one and it says "Bariatric Patient, no NG tube". Very important. After surgery if you are in an accident or something and they try to put an NG tube in, then we will see you at the funeral....It took mine about 2 weeks to come. so order beforehand.
2. I had some of my beloved tomatoes today!!!! (from Munn's, thank you Tinks!). I had my usual potted meat sandwich on low-carb bread (1 slice bread @45 cals and 9 grams carbs) and peeled my tomato and sliced it read-thru thin and put several layers (1/4 of a small tomato) on my little sandwich. Can you say HEAVEN? DIDN'T bother me at all and it was REAL tomato!!! I chewed it to smithereens, too.....
3. Totally, off topic, but I am so excited!!! If you get the Mississippi Baptist Record, there is a tiny little article about Nathan Barber being named Alumni of the year at William Carey in Hattiesburg. Guys, that's little Nathan!!!! His dad, Nathan, married Jim and I back in 1983 in Bay St Louis. Then while we were still on the coast, we had Jon. Little Nathan used to go everywhere with his Dad - including hospitals when folks were having babies. I finally was put to sleep and they did a c-section (BELIEVE me, if they hadn't I still be in labor with that child!!!). Anyhow, I woke up (or rather came to myself) after recovery, when they were taking me off the elevator to go to my room on the OB floor. The first face I saw that I recognized was Little Nathan!!! He was 12!!! I looked to one side and Little Nathan was standing there grinning from ear to ear! Well, Little Nathan is now 33 and teaches at a college prep school in Waco, TX. His website is nathanbarber.com and he has published a book, "Keepers of the Cross". I am SO excited!!! I went to his website and ordered the book, emailed him and asked if he remembered me. He Does!!! And he is gonna sign my book and send it to me! I am so proud!!! Little Nathan has made it big. He also has several other books published dealing with educational testing, but this is his first book of fiction! And he turned out to be a most good looking young man! Go see him!!! Order his book!!! Tell him you're my buddy!!!
4. Not that I can top #3, but guess what gang, I took my bra extenders out and my bras fit! WOW!!!!
5. I got my knitting machine! Today, I am off to walmart (again!!) in a bit to purchase a stand for it. I also ordered the pattern and supplies to make some baskets. I am fixing to start crafting like nobody's business! I love to knit and I love baskets!!!! Hopefully, this will help me focus on something besides "haven't I had enough to drink today yet?"
Well, right now, all is good!!! And that will last until I try a new food!! And then guess what? Remember, you heard it here first, "POTTED MEAT IS YOUR FRIEND!"
Smooch,
Arlies
