Things that can happen since WLS
After one year of WLS I can do the following things.
1. Buy clothes in most any store. (not just "Tents are Us!!!)
2. No longer wear dresses that look like maternity wear.
3. Have a salesperson say " Everything we have is TOO BIG FOR YOU" OR
"You need a SMALLER size"
4. Wear smaller shoes
5. Move my car seat up and not have my belly touch the steering wheel when I turn it,
6. Reach the brake with my whole foot not just a toe because the seat
was back too far (because of my belly)
7. Sit comfortably in most any chair even if it has arms.
8. Slide through between the church pews w/o my belly touching them
9. Tie my own shoes
10 Clean my apartment (the whole thing w/o stopping and resting)
11 Walk the mall w/o panting
12 Small children no longer ask if "babies (plural) are growing in my belly"
13. Small children no longer say "You're squishy"
14. Cross my legs like a lady
15. Have men look me in the eye and not the belly (and make a face)
16. Get treated with respect and immediate attention in places of business
17. Respect from co-workers
18. Walk to my mailbox instead of driving by
19. No comments on the groceries I buy at the store
20 My friends at fast food places I used to eat at say they miss seeing me
21. The fast food places in Laurel DID NOT HAVE TO CLOSE W/O MY BUSINESS
22. I can live w/o Diet Coke (one year so far)
23. Total strangers tell me how good I look
24. Save money and have cash in my purse since I don't use vending machines or eat fast food.
25. MEET A TERRIFIC GROUP OF FRIENDS ON THE BOARD, WHO ARE JUST A E-MAIL OR PHONE CALL AWAY ---THANKS
26. SMILE!!!!!SMILE!!!!! SMILE!!!!!
Congratulations on your one year anniversary. I just celebrated my one year anniversary January 15. It is so amazing to sit back and think about what the weight loss has meant for us both physically and emotionally. One thing I have done since my weight loss is I took my son to Six Flags and we rode every roller coaster in the place more than once. I have always loved roller coasters, but had not been able to ride them for several years. I had a blast. My son was so happy to have me riding with him rather than standing there watching him ride.
I went to pick up my 3 yr old at daycare the other day and her teacher said she needed to tell me something. SHe said Catherine told them that her mommy was little now and could chase her all over the yard and play a long time. It felt so good hearing that.
Well, I am so thankful for this surgery and the support that comes from all of my friends here on the board. Good luck and God Bless on your life long journey of health and fun.
Lots of Hugs,
Melissa Taylor
