Pre-Surgery appt.
I talked with Janet at Dr. Whitehead's office and my pre-surgery appointment is Feb. 7, with surgery February 17. Now I'm getting excited, and scared. That's just three weeks away! Closer than I was when I had to cancel before because of my foot. Oh my goodness! Ok, girls and guys, what should I be eating this last three weeks before surgery? I want to be in the best shape that I can be beforehand. Any tips?

Hiya Susan
My personal advice for you, start drinking a protein shake a day < if not two> to build up your protein. Also let go of any bad habit foods/beverages, cutting out the fats and sugar now will give you a little time to get accustomed rather than dealing with the cravings later, and it helps your liver in case it's already enlarged ( like most of ours are ).
Cut caffeine, if you're a caffeine addict , it will save you from having the headache AFTER surgery. Took me about a week to rid myself of the withdrawal headache
Last but not least.....if you do the "last supper" syndrome eating, try not to overdo it but eat sensibly. You don't need to worry about " never eating this-or-that again" because you will, just in much much smaller portions and with a new found recognition for what your body needs.
Definitely start on protein, it will help you so much , healing , because you'll have a few weeks before you can get your daily protein minimum in again.
Good luck, and I'm SO Happy you got a surgery date! Keep us up to date!!

WOOHOO!!!! SOON!!! SOON!!! I am so glad for you!!!
About 10 days prior to my surgery, I went on Dr. Gott's no flour, no sugar diet. Basically if it has sugar (any type) or flour in the ingredients, you don't eat it. It was easy and betwit that and a nasty virus prior to Christmas I dropped 30 lbs before surgery and Doc said that helped ALOT!!!
