My homemade pimento & cheese was a BIG calorie chuck, but it was so good!! And I only ate a dabble rather than 2 lbs and a loaf of white bread!!!

PS Ya'll I am concerned about this putting yourself into ketosis. I just don't see how that can be good for you. Doesn't it stress your kidneys out? I know that we need to go low carb, but my docs say no more than 40 per day. I spoke with my bariatric nurse today and she said she did not recommend ANYBODY putting themselves into ketosis to speed up the weight loss. So I won't be doing no carbs. I just don't feel comfortable with it, but I am trying to keep my carbs down.
About the ketosis thing...What I learned from my experience and discussions with my DRs is that anyone who has had WLS is in a "catabolic state" meaning during rapid weight loss you are burning your body (both muscle and fat) for fuel. To my understanding, this is ketosis. I don't think that someone still within the first 6 month post-op has to try to be in ketosis...you are already there.
Now for people further post, it's a different story. We have to work at burning our fat. The volume of food is greatly different and it's calories in/calories out to maintain.

Arlies, I can tell when I am in ketosis. This is gross but a fact --I can tell on how my body smells. I mean like urine, BM, etc... not BO or anything...
