Oh...my first topic post! Food logs...
I think Sandra had a great idea about making food logs. They are a wonderful way to let pre-ops know the "real" story and recent post-ops see what food is like in their futures. Heaven knows I could use the accountability! We need to commit to telling the real story, not just the successes but also the screw-ups. I'm new here so if there is already a format for reporting please let me know about it. Otherwise, here goes:
Early Breakfast: coffee (cream & splenda) 2 cups about 8oz each
Balance Gold Protein Bar
Late Breakfast: 1 scrambled egg in half a tortilla (could only eat half)
Lunch: shaved ham, cheese wrap (taco size tortilla)
Snack: Balance Gold Protein Bar
Later snack: popcorn
Dinner: Homeade Cajun Chicken wrap
Water: 50 oz so far, will get in another 20 before bed
Exercise: Weights, walked the track @ church 1-2 miles
2 min 5 sec on the elliptical (I'm working up!)
Supplements: 1 multivitamin, 1 iron, 2 potassium, sublingual B12
darn, forgot the calcium, I'll get it tonight.
Anyone else?

Water: 33 Ounces... I am trying... Really I am-- It is 33 ounces more than I got in Monday and Tuesday.
Great idea... We were doing this everynight. The titles were Fitday and the date. Have you tried Fitday, Elesha?
I am going back to my proein drinks tomorrow. Gonna do at least 2 a day. My eating is getting carried away.
Unfortunatly I didnt get to do any exercise this afternoon. I usually ride the 8.2 miles on the weekends. Dont have the time after work. I have kid duty. Tried Taebo.. not ready for that yet!
Hi Christine,
OK, now I understand what's up with the numbers! I've tried to do Fitday before but I would do it for a few days and then forget about it. I could never stay consistant. I don't like to measure foods and I'm pretty good at estimating how I am on protein which is really all I care about at this point. I just try to avoid carbs/sugar but don't really tally them up.
Shakes: I should get my shipment of new protein powder Tuesday so I'l make do with my Carb Solutions until then. I found more of the Davinci syrups that I kick up my shakes with at TJ Maxx ($5.99 a bottle). I really couldn't do without the hazelnut one. I switched to bars today because they are more convenient when I'm out.
Also, on another board everyone seems to post what they plan to eat during that day... ahead of time. Planning is great but mine never works as planned. I lthink I will like posting at night or very early the next morning. Thanks for the heads up.

Oh yea, I meant to ask you about those syrups. They sounded so good when you were talking about them the other night. I have that Carb Solutions --gotta get me a mixer though. I was trying to get my protein in without having to drink the drinks but its not working. I am getting in too many calories, fats and carbs and not enough protein.
I aint down wit dat!
I will go to TJ Maxx this weekend and see if I can find me some! Yummy!
Ahhh the almighty protein. I've found that tuna and eggs boost my counts easily. I like to open a can of tuna, mix dill relish, a little mayo and a diced boiled egg. Sometimes I omit the egg but if I'm low for the day I add it.
I tried the Davinci White Chocolate but wasn't overly impressed. I want to try the Amaretto next.
See ya,
E
I need to add that I had a cup of SF Ice Cream after I posted last night. Really late, like past midnight. Middle of the night eating was one of my really bad pre-op behaviors that I've worked hard to avoid these past 3 years. I don't think you ever are really free of your bad habits... just in remission. This can definately be logged in as a screw-up! I won't beat myself up about it but I cannot wake up and go the the fridge anymore!

Hey Elesha,
Here is what I ate yesterday 1/20.
B Special K with 1% Lactaid 14 grams protein total
S Special K Bar 2 grams protein
Lunchtime Workout
11 minutes on eliptical
20 minutes weights
L Tuna salad made with 3 0z can tuna, 1/2 egg, pickles, lite mayo
wrapped in a lettuce leaf with 1 slice of tomato 24 grams protein
S 1/3 of a banana and a slice of cheese 6 grams protein
3 low sugar hershey kisses (had a craving for chocolate)
Evening Workout
30 minutes on eliptical machine
10 minutes abdominals
D 1/2 pc of reduced fat patty sausage, 1/4 of a biscuit with sf syryp, 2 tbs grits with a little cheese
S small low carb brownie (made them with a carb watcher brownie mix)
with sugar free cream cheese icing I made with Splenda (pretty tasty)
I drank water and tea all day. I didn't measure it, though. But I drank plenty. I didn't have a really good eating day as far as protein goes but it is my time of the month and just craving chocolate and sweet stuff. So I tried to give myself a break and just have some. At least it was sugar free. I'll get more protein in today.
Oh, yeah, and since I was still up at 11:00 helping my son with math, I had 2 low sugar mini reeses. His teacher should be knocked in the head. He gave them way too many problems. I used to be a math tutor and they took me a while to do. All those really big square root equations.
Whew! I am usually not up that late and try not to be because late night eating was a problem for me before surgery. So I try to go to bed at a reasonable time every night before the munchie**** I must say I did good only eating two of the little reeses because more of them were calling my name, but I ignored them. I also ignored the cheetos that also knew my name. So that was good.
Hope everyone has a great day!

WOW! 30 minutes on the elliptical...you are my idol!LOL I managed to increase my all time high time of 2min 05sec to 3min 05sec today. You would have thought I ran a marathon.
I'm glad to hear someone else has a problem with nightime eating. It is purely behavior and I've avoided it for years but it's just waiting to jump up from behind...or on my behind, as the case may be!
Good luck,
Elesha

Hey, everyone has to start somewhere on that elliptical. The first time I did it, I only made it 5 minutes. Now I love it. Plus it burns double the calories per minute than any other cardio machine. I like that because I don't have to do it as long as I would some other machine to burn the same calories.
Night time eating has always been my problem. I do absolutely great during the day. Don't think about eating or want anything besides what I pack in my lunch bag for the day. But after about 8:00 pm I start having the head hunger and cravings. Tempting little foods start calling my name. Like you said it is habitual behavior. I think mine is night time because I would wait until everyone was asleep to do my eating. Like if no one saw me it wouldn't land on my back side. Well, ha, ha, ha, it did. I am working on that behavior one day at a time, one voice at a time, one meal at a time. It takes time to change behaviors you have had for so long. We will make it, though. We both have done so well, you especially with your maintenance. I hope I do as well. I find that staying really busy after I get home and going to bed at a decent time really helps. I try not to watch TV and stuff which isn't that difficult with a teenager and a toddler in the house. Thankfully I don't have a hard time staying busy.
I am glad you are posting here. We can be there to help one another. It seems we have a good bit in common on this front. So take care and keep in touch. The people on this board have been a great help to me. I go to the main message board a good bit, too. There are some wonderful people and daily post on there as well. YOu get a great deal of useful information and ideas on the main board too because there are people on there from everywhere.
