For those of you who knew her, Hughlene Gray, a patient of Dr Blakes, died Monday from malnutrition and complications from the surgery. Please say a prayer for her family.

Stacey this breaks my heart. Thank you for letting us know. I was on the list to have surgery with Dr. Blake but he left before I got a date. I remember Hughlene. Wasn't she divorced? Does she have children or other family? Just let them know I am praying for them. Thank you again, Jan Brown

OMG this is horrible. Please ler her family know that they are in my prayers. If you dont mind me asking her malutrition was it due to her not eating right? I think this should be a wake up call for all of us to pay closer attention to ourselves and our bodies. Get the water in, get the protein in, take those vitamins. Again my thoughts and prayers are with her family. Denise

Jan, She was divorced, but her ex-husband stood by her. Since we were both in the hospital at the same time and having the same problems, he came to visit me and my husband would go and check on her, and they helped convince me to find another Dr.

Stacey, I remember you too, but I went back and looked at your profile and you named another Dr. So I wasn't sure if you were the one here in the hospital at the same time as Hughlene. How are you doing? You were struggling too. Let us know more about you. After ya'll left UMC we couldn't find out anything about either of you. I still just can't believe she died. The reason I asked about her being divorced was because I remember her ex stood by her. I am divorced and that touched me that he was so kind. I hope your health is good now. Let us hear from and about you. God bless you and take care. Smiles, Jan

I will say a prayer for her family. I am so sad. My best friend died from this surgery. She didn't take care of herself either. This is another wake up call for me, as I am terrible about taking those vitamins. Kitsy

It is already done Stacey. Now my plead is to our people on board reading, lurking or posting stay on top of it. What do post-ops need (water), what do you need more of (protein), what do you need more of to survive for the rest of your life (vitamines). So let start pumping these things in right now. Not just what you eat, or how much exercise you get in everyday or Carbs. Okay we have to make a you post-ops have to start reporting intake on water and protein each week and don't make me start you reporting everyday. This has gotten out of hand with too many getting sick . Some things we have to take blame for ourselves and take action. I am not talking about negelience on the Drs. part but using our tool to the best of our ability. I heard Janet telling some of us to force tha****er and protein in Monday at the support meeting. Here is a little incenitive. The water will fill you up and help with the head hunger and the protein will help with the energy. Elisea,Dex, Christine, Denise, Sherry, Jane a little here. We need the seasoned post-ops to post and give encouragement. Don't keep it a . Now let's buckle down. Monday I want reports of water and protein intake along with Fitday report. yes it is home work because it is something you will have to do for the rest of your life ,just like being a mother, father, employer, a friend, see where I'm going with this. Ya!!!

I am all for it. I NEED people to tell me sometimes what I am doing wrong and what happens to me when I dont get in what I need to get in. I am taking you up and I am gonna do everything in my power to get my water and protein in. It is so scary when something like this happens. Very sad that it happened.
