I have wondered what are good protien shakes? i heard that the adtkins advantage was one, wat about boost and others? Another question, how about spicy foods down the road after surgery? i love my hot sauce! lol, will i be able to have it or is it just how my stomach handles it? one more and i promise no more stupid questions. does anyone take extra vitamins or anything after the surgery or do they stick to flinstones chewables and calcium? ( at least thats wat dr blake suggested, now he's outa the pic so ....) thanks for any help

Hey Becky, I have found that I like the Adkins the best. It is also easier than mixing and really easy when your away from home. I haven't had any problem with spicy foods. I take a prevacid every day though. So far I have stuck to the flintstones but I'm interested to see what everybody says about that. Becky

I had hot sauce starting at 10 days out. I love Lousianna Hot sause and eat it on just about everything esp my fish. I take the Equate Multivitamin Childrens with Iron. They seem to be fine for me. I take 2 a day. I am not on any calcium pills but am gonna ask my doc about it tomorrow at my appt. I am concerned that maybe I missed being told to take this. I also did the B12 Complex but havent noticed a change in my energy level. My nurse is giving me a B12 shot in the morning. I am looking forward to it. I also get to have all my blood work done. Yippeee----I really want my iron checked. There are no STUPID questions when it comes to this surgery! Ask away.

I have already started on the Flinstones complete, 2 a day, 1500 grams or milligrams or whatever the unit is of calcium, and sublinguial B-12 (Wal-mart). Always ask. The stupid questions are the ones you are too chicken to ask! So don't be a chicken lips!!!! Smoochers Arlies

where in the world do you find boost for 6.00 for 24 can. i have also found some vitamins that are very small and easy to swallow. the name is ONE-A-DAY ESSENTIALS in a white and green bottle. they are a multi-vitamin and very easy to swallow and no aftertaste. nan

Becky, I've liked the GNC Whey (strawberry) mixed with skim milk. For a premixed, that's easy to find, I like the Low-Carb SlimFast (Chocolate Royal) Yummy. As for Vitamins and such- I'm still taking my 2 Flintstones Complete Plus Iron every morning, A Calcium Citrate - Citrical (At first 6 weeks, just Tums) I also take a b-12 shot once a month (doesn't hurt at all) A B-1 Thiamin every morning, And a Iron capsule (perception) every evening. My Dr. still has me on a Prevacid every morning too. As for spicy foods-- Yes! Once I added in solids, I was back into the Salsa and Tabasco. Hope the Greatest for You! Best wishes- Dx

Hey Dex... Gonna Hijack on here for a minute. Would you mind taking a look at what us post ops are eating and critique us with all of your wisdom. I dont really know what is too much carbs and fat and calories, etc... Would you mind looking at our evening posts.... Please... I will be your bestest WLS friend???!?!?!?! Be brutally honest. We need it. Also, as far as your vitamins and stuff.. my doc didnt say anything about calcium or iron pills. While at Walmart tonight I bought some tums and some Iron pills. I really feel like my iron is low. I have an appt tomorrow and I will ask him... I am scared to death of shots. Will that B12 shot give me a boost of energy? Man, I hope so. I have been real sluggish lately --not as bad since I switched back to my multivitamin but still a little tired in the evening. Thanks so much for being so WLS educated. We wouldnt know what to do without you! Christine -58 48 to MY goal (160) 33 to Docs (175)

Hey Christine!! I have been taking B12 shots for over a year....mine had bottomed out.....I get a boost of energy from them up until about the third day after i take it....then, it kinda levels back out....I take them once a month and will have to continue taking them after surgery.....When i first started, they had me take one every day for a week...that's how low my level was...Talk about Wonder Woman.....i felt great!!! Wouldn't hurt to have your level checked.....
