Yesterday I could start eating seafood. I thought I had died and gone to heaven to eat a piece of meat. I ate some baked fish and baked seasoned potatoes it was actually like a real meal. The first one since surgery. My weight loss is not going as fast as I would like it too but I have lost inches so thats good. But now that I can have seafood, toast and cereal the eating part is surely getting alot easier. I will have to admit this far it hasn't been too bad. Thanks for listening Becky

Hi Becky... Its not terribly bad. The hardest part for me is checking for sugar. I make my friends taste their teas to make sure they dont accidentaly have mine and vice versa. I have had fish and shrimp and your right --it is so good. Much better than pork. I have a tough time with pork. I dont have the taste for it anymore. Your weight loss will pick up. I tend to completely stop about a week before my period. EVERY MONTH. Then after my period the weight loss starts to come off. What is your weight loss to date. At 8 weeks I beleive I had lost 45 pounds. Sounds like you are doing good though... Do you feel ok?

Christine, Hey I am 7 weeks out and I have lost 35#. I feel really good. My energy is really picking up. I just wish I could do something to make my weight loss pick up a bit. The last day or two my ankles have been swollen so I think I'm retaining fluid. Any suggestions for that. I'm trying not to get down in the dumps I guess maybe I just had over expectations. Thanks for the help Becky

Are you eating alot of salt or anything? Are you on your feet all day? Is is possible it is getting close to your monthly. THat is pretty much when I retain a lot. I cant say that I have swollen up since I had my surgery. Your weight seems to be good. I dont know what you weighed when you had your surgery but I was 266. I have noticed the ones who weigh alot more like 350 or so lose a lot quicker. You dont look like you weighed 350 but maybe if you started out with less weight to lose it may be why it is slow. The bigger you are the faster you lose. I have also heard that us slow losers should be grateful because it is better on our skin. They say it wont be as flabby. I feel like I am a slow loser. I am 13 weeks out and have lost 58. You are doing good. I had over expectations as well, so I know how you feel. You can double your protein if possible and drink as much water as you can stand. Try to keep your carbs to a minimum and that may help pick up the weight loss. I hope this helps.

Becky, you are doing great!!! Don't put too much pressure on yourself. The one thing I have read on here that causes the slow loss, is not eating enouth. This is totally opposite of the life we had before, so I can see how easy it would be to not eat all that you should. Hope this helps, from a pre-op. Smiles, Jan

HEY GIRL!!! You're doing great. Don't be surprised if you eat seafood or other foods a few times and then the next time get sick as can be. Breads can be nauseating too. You still look like someone I have taught or knew in the past. I had a lot to lose and have lost pretty quickly. My energy level was great even on days when I was eating 600 calories. I don't do exercise as such--- my job as director of our childcare center for employees children at the high school keeps me moving and now I CAN MOVE. I dance with the children during creative movement and we go on walking tours. I try to get in motion of any kind I can. MINUS 200 LBS. AS OF 12-23-04 My WLS date was 02-02-04. It has only been a couple of months since I have been able to eat meat. At first only shrimp. Then I got sick on it and don't care for it NOW. I ate a tiny bit of turkey on Christmas. And yesterday ate a slice of fat free turkey deli meat. Such a compromise to be slimmer but WELL WORTH IT.

I hate to mention the dreaded "E" word but regular exercise will really help the weight come off. It is really good for helping you with the humps... Blessings with your continued loss, Carolyn
