Hi everyone! I'm new and have some questions for any who might be able to help. This is the first time I've considered WLS seriously. I am currently uninsured, but am thinking about obtaining insurance specifically for this reason. I wondered if anyone has had any experience with Mississippi Health Connection and whether they were able to have WLS covered with them? If so, how difficult was the process? There's more, but I'll leave it at this for now. Thanks for your help ahead of time. Candice

Hi Candace and welcome to the Ms Forum. Be very careful when choosing insurances--its my understanding that the agents sometimes say they cover this and then to find out they dont. Be sure to get a copy of covered surgeries. I do not know anything about Ms Health Connection. Some uninsured folks on this forum or those with BCBS of MS use vocational rehab to help cover the expenses. Do you know about this? Only a handful of doctors in the state take voc rehab so you may not would be able to use a specific doctor. Good luck in your process. Post often and dont get discouraged. Hey Candice, Welcome to the board! We are so glad to have you! Now, this is a LOOOOONNNNNNG process so PLEASE do not get discouraged! As Christine said, voc rehab is an option and some hospitals (UMC, in particular) have a financial assistance program, where you get basically a grant that covers all your medical from them for a certain lenght of time. I have military insurance so I am sorry I am not of more help. Please keep us posted on your journey and post OFTEN! Smooch, Arlies
