Upset!:-@
Well you all I have some good news and some bad news. So here I go. I talked to Janet today with Dr. Whitehead's office and she said they cannot take Voc. Rehab. because they only wants to pay the Dr. 1,300.00 for the surgery and that is it, but they will pay the hospital a 1,000.00 each day and pay some of the other things which like she said is a shame. Bottom line it doesn't cover enough for them and they would be losing. bummer!!. The good news is that my husband have new insurance called GEHA, it's a Govt. employee Health insurance and they do pay for this type of surgery. you just have to get pre-certified before hand, I just hope it's not one of those 6-12 months Dr's supervised pre-cert thang. It's the best I have right now, besize waiting on Jackson UMC to see what they are going to do. I as as he...... but don't know what to do except to wait a little longer. I'll Keep to you guy's and venting. for now.
I understand your upset! I finally got a date for my surgery, December 16. Monday of last week I fell and hurt my ankle and cannot put weight on it! So! after waiting for four months for a date, I may not be able to have it done! I don't mean at all, I just mean for this year. I so wanted to get it over with and be able to go to work Jan. 2. Frustration, frustration! Don't give up! Keep venting!
I talked with Janet in Dr. Whitehead's office today and I still have the date, I just don't know if I will be able to keep it, since I had the accident. My orthopedist says yes I can go ahead, with I am afraid I might not do well, not being able to walk without the aid of a walker! I am praying about it.
Hey Sandra,
I'm sorry to hear that Voc Rehab didn't come through for you more than they did. That GEHA thing sounds promising, I'm not familiar with it but I will keep you in my prayers and just wanted to let you know, don't give up, keep on going. In the end, you'll find a way to get surgery and join the losers. It took me 2 years and I just couldnt get around the requirements, so I fulfilled them one by one and finally got to where I am now. "Almost" 100 lbs less and happy as a bug ! Don't give up!!!
You'll get there, just give it time !!
Take care and happy Turkey Day!!
Andie
Hang in there Sandra!

Dang, I just knew that they would be able to take voc rehab...it would have helped so many folks...But you do have the new insureance to help you out even if you have to wait a while longer....Somewhere it is written that patience is a virtue. Between you and me, we gots lots of virtue!!!
Hang in there!

Before you fuss at me --I replied to your email you sent me today but YOUR EMAIL IS FULL...Delete baby delete!
That sucks about voc rehab. I wonder why they said they would pay surgeon $8000.00 on my paperwork. Doesnt seem right.
Call the new ins and get the requirements tomorrow. Do you have a family doctor or ob that will write a letter saying you have been on supervised diet thru them. When you get your email cleared let me know--I wanna send you something on the above statement and what I did.
Even if you have to do the 6 mos-if they get on the ball in Jackson you will be on that list. Arlies said that they said EVERYONE would get the surgery.
OR--- since voc rehab is paying the hospital and $1300 to surgeon--how much out of pocket would you have to pay to Dr. Whitehead. What is his fee and could you pay the difference. I know it depends on how much it is but I would ask. The surgeon billed my ins $5100.00 --insurance paid less than half that per our contract so it doesnt seem like they expect to get the whole $5100.00. They cant bill me for the difference per our contract with Hattiesburg Clinic.
Dont sweat it --its gonna happen for you. Its just taking a little longer.
