Gastric Bypass Pill???????????
Hi Susan,
I have 2 daughters, a son-in-law and a Ex that is all on the ZetaCap. They seem to be doing good on them.
But, I wouldn't be able to take them in place of the surgery because I am the type that gets tired of taking pills. I would say.. "oh well, I will take it tomorrow" then before I know it, I would be off of them altogether..
If you choose this, I wish you luck

this site has a great picture of what the pill does when you take it. I think I would do great with it as long as I stayed on it, my problem would be that when I got off of it, I would be gaining it all back, b/c I would no longer have the pill taking up the space in my stomach.
I wasn't thinking of taking it myself! My daughter is 33 yrs old, and weighs about 240. She was a beautiful teenager, but a not so happy marriage and two pregnancies has packed the pounds on! She doesn't want to look like her mother, and is exercizing and trying to watch her diet, but with a six year old and an eight year old, its hard to do! She ordered the stuff. It came yesterday and she is gone to TX for the holiday. I told her I was going to ask the board what they knew about it, and the answer you gave me was good. I take too much meds (heart, etc) that I would be afraid to take it! Thanks for your imput!
Thanks Donna, I went to the web site and read all the stuff. Sounds wonderful BUT there is lots and lots of ginseng in it. (Zetacap? contains: Xanthum Gum, Chinese Red Ginseng Root, Astragalus Root, Cayenne Fruit, Echinacea Whole Plant, Fo Ti Root, Golden Seal Root, Guarana Seed, Panax Ginseng Root & Extract and Siberian Ginseng Root.) I looked up the cautions on ginseng, because I knew there was something, but couldn't remember. It is not good for diabetics and folks on blood pressure medication according to some of the sites.
"Ginseng: (Panax Ginseng): Stimulant, tonic. Believed to remedy fatigue, lack of energy, poor memory, and inability to concentrate. Seems to stimulate the immune system; commonly used to increase resistance to stress.
Caution: Some people report feeling restless, nervous, or irritable after taking ginseng.
WARNING: Do not take if you have high blood pressure or take an MAO inhibitor."
quoted from http: //members .ao l.com /fibroworld /herb .htm
"American, Korean and Chinese ginsengs are stimulants and may cause nervousness or sleeplessness, particularly if taken at high doses. Other reported side effects include high blood pressure, insomnia, restlessness, anxiety, euphoria, diarrhea, vomiting, headache, nosebleed, American is the most balanced of the three, while Korean (Red) is the hottest. Chinese the mildest.
warning
The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) rates ginseng as a class 2d herb, which indicates that specific restrictions apply. In this case, hypertension (high blood pressure) is the specific restriction. People with hypertension should not take ginseng products without specific guidance and instruction from a qualified practitioner. At the same time, people with low blood pressure as well as those with an acute illness or diabetes (because of the risk of a sudden drop in blood sugar), should use caution when taking ginseng.
Safety of taking ginseng during pregnancy is unknown; therefore, it is not recommended when pregnant or breast feeding
Ginseng should be discontinued at least 7 days prior to surgery. This is for two reasons. First, ginseng can lower blood glucose levels and, therefore, create problems for patients fasting prior to surgery. Also, ginseng may act as a blood thinner, thereby increasing the risk of bleeding during or after the procedure.
To avoid hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), even in non-diabetics, ginseng should be taken with food. Eating ginseng root or via capsules have a stronger adverse affect than the liquid.
Possible Herb-Drug Interaction
Blood Thinning Medications
Ginseng may possibly decrease the effectiveness of the blood-thinning medication, warfarin. May inhibit platelet activity and, therefore, should not be used with aspirin
Caffeine
Ginseng increases the effect of caffeine, possibly causing nervousness, sweating, insomnia, or irregular heartbeat.
Haloperidol
Ginseng may exaggerate the effects of this anti-psychotic medication,
Morphine
Ginseng blocks the pain killing effects of morphine.
Phenelzine and other MAOIs for Depression
Ginseng may interact with phenelzine (class of monoamine oxidase inhibitors [MAOIs]), resulting in symptoms ranging from manic-like episodes to headache and tremulousness. "

So be very careful of this item. MAKE sure your doc is aware that you are taking it and also talk with your druggist - as he/she should be up on the latest "do not mix" items.
And remember just because something is "all natural" and "herbal" doesn't mean it is a good thing.....Rattlesnake posion is all natural....Hemlock is all natural and herbal....So just be careful!!!

Hi..I am taking ZetaCap which is the Gastric Bypass Pill.. it basically fills your stomache with a gel, so that you won't eat as much. You feel FULL all the time. I've been on it for 2 weeks and have lost 9 lbs. My father has lost I believe 17? and my husband has lost 12. It works great for us. None of us have any nervous type feelings, and my dad and I are both diabetics and it does not interfere with that. I would suggest it to anyone, as a matter of fact I have lol. It seems to be working well for us. Also some of my inlaws are taking it and doing well.. Just thought I should post since I and so many around me are taking this pill .. hehe. Hope it works well for your daughter.. By the way .I'm JoAnn Walker's daughter..she posted above..
