Anyone have the surgeon put them on "fluids only" prior to surgery? I am on fluids till surgery(Nov 30,) The first day or two were not so bad but having to face cooking for the family is getting rough, not tot mention preparing for TURKEY DAY. Guess I was looking forward to a grand food funeral layout. I have another cardi. appointment for stress test, I get that knocked out on the 26 and then surgery on 30.

my surgery is Dec 6, I was told to go on two proetin drinks (b &L) and a moderate meal for dinner the week prior. In my case, the week of Thanksgiving is my last week of eating normal even though I am trying to eat sensible.....good luck

Hello Vickie, My Surgeon put me on a diet a week before surgery. No SUGAR. Protein shake for Breakfast. Protein shake for Lunch. And a moderate meal for Dinner (supper). The day before surgery, I was to drink only clear liquids and that evening drink a bottle of phosphate soda (to clean me out) and oh my gosh, did it ever clean me out.. lol Good Luck & May God Bless you on your journey. It's not always easy, after all the most important thing to always remember. This surgery is not a miracle to weight loss, it's a tool. But a great tool. ~Jo~

Hey Vicki, Two weeks of fluids, ICK!! And Thanksgiving to go thru. wow, I feel for you. I think instead of cooking for Thanksgiving, I'd buy the already cooked turkey with dressing and gravy from the grocery store and my least favorite pie there too. Bless your heart, this will be tough BUT in the long run, it will be greatly worth it! Smoochers Arlies

Hi Vicky, I have heard of about a dozen diffent pre-op routines, though this sounds kind-of tough. Since it is my tendency to look on the bright side of things, I think that making this drastic change BEFORE having surgery will make things a little easier AFTER surgery. Any way you look at it, its not any fun. We'll be pullin' for ya! james.

Ok. I think I had the most liberal surgeon in the world! Or maybe there are certain factors that make a surgeon decide what to tell their patient to do before surgery. However, Dr. Salameh's only instructions to me pre-op were to not eat or drink anything after midnight the night before surgery. THAT WAS IT! I wondered if that was correct b/c of all I saw that other people were having to do..but that was it. I didn't eat after 6 pm the day before surgery. Kristi
