more info about voc rehab
I called Oxford and they take voc rehab but there is a 2 year wait since the hosp lets them do only 2 a month. So that is shot down. What about the other hospitals? New orleans, coast, CMMC, do you know what their status is and if they take voc rehab? I am just trying to make a few phone calls and ask around.
I plan on going to the meeting on Dec 2 just to see if there is any info.

Jane,
Forrest General Hospital takes Voc Rehab. Dr. Whitehead is the surgeon and I am not sure what their status is on taking voc rehab. It was a no before but that is when Voc Rehab would only pay surgeon $1100.00... When I had mine worked up they said they would pay $8000.00... I gave all of this to my doctors office upon request and I believe they are checking into accpeting it.
I emailed my nurse about it earlier and she hasnt checked it yet. I will let you know what she says as soon as I get a response. If you all come to the seminar I will go with you. I have been wanting to go again anyway.
I had my surgery done in Oxford and I was a lucky one. There was no wait at the time I initially saw Dr. Byars. As I had to wait for tests to be performed, the wait crept up on me. However, my wait was only 5 months. I had heard that the wait had gotten to be years away.
Hope you find someone who can do it sooner for you. I know how frustrating it is to have to wait for something you want so badly.
I will be praying for you.

Hey Jane!
Things might have changed in the past few months, but I used Voc Rehab and in April of this year I called EVERY hospital in the state that I knew did WLS (with the exception of Forrest General in Hattiesburg) and was told by everybody EXCEPT UMC that they no longer take Voc Rehab. I went with Dr. Salameh at UMC and I LOVE him. He's very caring and genuinely takes the time to talk to you. I didn't have any compaints about UMC with my hospital stay either. Everybody was very nice.
