New Guy

Cheers to all, This site was recommended by my surgeon at Keesler AFB. I'm new and have a surgery date for 14 Dec. I'm also only 20 and a student at MSU in Starkville. I've enjoyed your postings and have found great comfort from your experinces. My plan is to take next semester off and stay with my parents (TLC) in Meridian. Does anyone know of a support organization in Meridian? Take care and stay safe and I'm sure I will have a million questions. Thanks, Josh

WOW... We have 3 men now... Thats great. Hi Josh! I am so glad your doctors office sent you here. It is a great web site. Your surgery is so close. Thats great. As far as Meridian support group meetings... I know they have them once a month. Not sure when though... Kristi Etheridge is a post op here and she lives in Meridian. I am sure she and others will let you know when and where. Its a wonderful site. Come often and post alot. We all have lots of questions and learn from each other. Dont be shy.... Christine

Hey Josh, Great to see another guy out here. We make up the minority of folks having This surgery, But tend to have quicker and Greater results. This has to do with male physiology rather Than "Will Power," I think the ladies have us beat there. Also check out the main message board for getting Questions answered. These MS folks are super sweet But the main board moves much quicker and you can Get answers in a flash. However, You'll get more support and Specifics about the Drs. and support groups and such From the MS board. Glad to see you on board. 15months Post-Op for me and the only thing I would do different, is to have the surgery 5 years earlier. Best Wishes- Dx 385/191/185

Hi Josh. I am from Meridian. Yes, we do have a Meridian Support Group Meeting Monthly. Our next one is tomorrow evening. Monday 8th at 5:30. It's at the Hospice South Building at the corner or North Hills and Poplar Springs Drive. Be sure and park at the back of the building. So you don't have to walk down the step and then back up the steps. We have lots of fun, and are just like a big family. Come and have fun! ~Jo~

Welcome to the board, Josh ! I'm not in the Meridian area, but rather down south at the coast. You're lucky about the surgery at Keesler, at the time I inquired, they were not doing any WLS at Keesler and I ended up having to take the trip to New Orleans for it.
