How far are you willing to go for WLS?
I have been reading post here for 2 years. I picked up a lot of information in my research of the WLS. I decided in June that this is a procedure that I wanted to persue. Met with surgeon in July and started my test. September 1, 2004 my paper went to BC/BS. Needless to say I was denied, even when my policy stated covered when medical necessity. BC/BS refused to send guidelines to my doctor (out of state but in network). Finally on October 29, 2004, at approx 10am, totally worn down , frustrated, and depressed, I made a complaint with the state insurance commissioner then I contacted the state attorney general's office and filed a complaint of FRAUD against BC/BS. At 2:30 pm on October 29, 2004, Bc/BS had called my doctor to request a tentive surgery date be faxed in so they could get everything pussed thru. Now I am not getting too excited yet, I will wait until I see the paper from BC/BS. All of you should FILE COMPLAINTS, with any public official that you can think of. It was my last hope.
WOW Vickie, you are our HERO! I know teachers get their insurange free in MS but I am disabled and have to pay for it myself now. Medicare is my primary but I pay more for my BCBS a month than I do for my medicare. I felt like they should pick up the remainder after medicare pays. I am going to contact our leaders. I was told the only way we would be able to get BCBS of MS to do better was to demand it of them. You sound like a good leader for all teachers in MS. Thank you for sharing this information with us. Hope you get you surgery date set as soon as possible. Keep us posted! Hope you have a good day today.
