New to the Message Board
I'm new to the message board. My friend, Christine, finally talked me into signing up. Just a little about me...I had surgery on March 16, 2004 and I have currently lost 125 lbs. The program in Hattiesburg hadn't really gotten started good yet when I started this adventure so I opted to travel to Jackson to have mine done.
I had a lot of complications and was in the hospital a little over 3 weeks and returned to the hospital 2 more times shortly thereafter. I also continued to have a home health nurse for several months after coming home. My first hurdle was that I had a leak and had to go right back in the next morning and have it fixed. After that I was in the ICU for 3 days. After coming out of the ICU and getting the ok on no more leaks 
I developed an infection in my incision...
WHAT FUN!! Anyway...to make a long story short I had a real rough time, but I still wouldn't change a thing. I was overweight all my life and had pretty much given up. I had diabetes, High Blood Pressure and frequent shortness of breath and had pretty much accepted the fact that I was going to live out the rest of my days a prisoner in my own body. This surgery almost took my life but it ended up saving it. I no longer have diabetes and my doctor said he is taking me off my high blood pressure medicine in December. I have lost 125 lbs, dropped 5 shirt sizes and lost 20 inches in my waist. I thank God everyday for this tool that has helped me get my life back.

You finally came!!! Woohooo. I dont think I realized what ALL you had been through.
I love this message board. It is my home page on the internet. Its so addicting. I have met some very good friends on here.
I am so glad you came and signed up. Post away. You just dont know how much support there is here. Fresh ideas and just people to talk to about this surgery. Nobody else quite understands like those who have been through it or working on it.
I was tickled pink when I logged on and saw your post. Cute cute... YOU ARE DOING GREAT!

I won't be at the fashion show tonite. I live in Meridian and gas is kinda a problem these days. Hope that you have fun! And yes, Dr Cleveland did my surgery. And I think he is the best there is. I have had no complications,until I eat to fast or drink to much.. LoL. I am still learning.
